Site Description:
This pond is a ~112-acre “kettle-hole” waterbody located on Cape Cod in the Town of Eastham, MA. The pond only occasionally experienced blooms of cyanobacteria, but studies showed great potential for conditions to worsen in the future. Another pond in Eastham was successfully treated with alum in 2012, so the Town was inclined to be more proactive with this property.
Scope of Work:
Alum Treatment
Project Description:
SOLitude was subcontracted by GHD, Inc. to provide treatment services on the waterbody for the Town of Eastham. SOLitude worked with GHD Inc., Ecologic LLC and the Town to help develop the dosing, treatment protocol and monitoring program for this project. In the fall of 2013, SOLitude successfully conducted an alum treatment to approximately 28 acres of the pond using our modified barge specifically designed for these treatments.
