Site Description:
This property is a small suburban community located on the outskirts of Dallas, TX. SOLitude Lake Management won the contract in the spring of 2019 for the HOA’s half-acre stormwater pond, which was nearly 100% covered with filamentous algae.
Scope of Work:
SOLitude’s management goal was to restore balance to the pond and keep the pond free of algae and undesirable vegetation through ongoing management.
Project Description:
The algae bloom that had nearly taken up the entire pond became an eye-sore for the community’s residents.
One of the challenges faced with this job was the stone wall that surrounded the pond. Due to the wall, we were not able to get the boat into the water to treat the middle of the pond.
Using our truck spray rig, we treated the pond with an environmentally-friendly product. We used a combination of surfacing spraying and shoreline injections to ensure that the entire lake was treated properly.
After returning to the property two weeks after the initial treatment, the algae were completely gone and the pond looked amazing. Residents of the community were thrilled with the results and SOLitude continues to manage the pond and visits the community every two weeks to ensure that it remains pristine.
