Through its corporate volunteering program, The SOLution, SOLitude Lake Management has named Florida Regional Leader Alberto Florez the Volunteer of the Quarter for the fourth quarter of 2018. Alberto demonstrated a true mission to serve through his many personal and team volunteering events in his local community in Florida.
In the fall, Alberto served as an official volunteer at the Yesteryear Village LagoonFest in Palm Beach, FL. The annual festival seeks to spotlight the delicate waterways and estuaries in the region and generate interest in preserving and protecting the aquatic ecosystems for generations to enjoy. Alberto focused on educating attendees about estuaries and their unique importance to the local environment.
Alberto also contributed his expertise and experience restoring local waterways at North Jupiter Flatwoods, a 160-acre natural area containing mesic flatwoods, depression marshes, dome swamp systems, and rare plant species. As the site, which is designated as part of Florida’s Greenways and Trail systems, Alberto taught visitors about invasive species and how they can harm the native plant community.
Alberto always strives to include colleagues and loved ones in his volunteering efforts. He was joined at each of his fourth quarter events by his wife and daughter, tripling his positive impact in the community.
In addition to his fourth quarter designation, Alberto was also named Volunteer of the Quarter for the first quarter of 2018 in recognition of the many trash clean-ups, food bank outings, and environmental restoration projects that he helped lead.
In total, Alberto led or participated in 3 events and tallied 19 volunteer hours in the fourth quarter of 2018, in addition to his recurring leadership responsibilities as The SOLution program Team Captain for his region.
The SOLution is a company-wide program that encourages the company and all employees to strive to “create a better world” through volunteerism, community outreach, sustainability and environmental consciousness. SOLitude’s company leadership feels it is important to not only be good stewards of the environment and good corporate citizens, but also to fulfill company core values to “take action and be accountable” and to “protect and respect nature.” Since the program began in 2012, SOLitude has donated more than $355,000 in goods and in-kind services, and tallied more than 13,000 volunteer hours.
