Volunteer of the Quarter Makes An Impact in Massachusetts

January 23rd, 2020

Volunteer of the Quarter

Through SOLitude’s corporate volunteering and community outreach program, The SOLution, the company has named Customer Service Representative Becky Snyder of Shrewsbury, MA as Volunteer of the Quarter for the fourth quarter of 2019. Becky organized and participated in an array of volunteer events from October through December.

As a Volunteer Team Captain, Becky plays an active role in coordinating initiatives for SOLitude’s New England office. She coordinated the details of the company’s Little GOBBLERs efforts during Thanksgiving by identifying schools throughout the region that would benefit most from the donation of turkeys and grocery store gift cards. Likewise, she played a vital role in SOLitude’s HOLiday Cheer efforts by coordinating the collection of gifts for children at Shriner’s Hospital and those involved in the Toys for Tots program.

In the fourth quarter, Becky organized many other charitable and volunteering efforts, including a toiletry drive for Mustard Seed Homeless Shelter, card writing for a young patient at the Worcester, MA Children’s Hospital, and a group clean-up of a pond in her local Dean Park in honor of SOLitude’s first annual Heart & SOL Day.

Finally, Becky has continued to serve as an important leader and role model with the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, an organization that empowers young women. For many years, Becky has helped coordinate events, fundraisers and assemblies for the group, which she took part in herself as a child.

Becky earned a total of 59 personal volunteer hours through 12 events in the fourth quarter. Preceding her was Bella Bhagroo, who was named the Volunteer of the Third Quarter in 2019.

“Becky’s passion for serving others is apparent through everything she does.” Director of Marketing Tracy Fleming said. “She is always looking for ways to make the world a better place—and to get her colleagues involved whenever possible.”

The SOLution is a company-wide program that encourages the company and all employees to strive to “create a better world” through volunteerism, community outreach, sustainability and environmental consciousness. SOLitude’s company leadership feels it is important to not only be good stewards of the environment and good corporate citizens, but also to fulfill company core values to “take action and be accountable” and to “protect and respect nature.” In 2018, SOLitude staff volunteered more than 3,000 collective hours.
