Industry Experts Make a Positive Impact in Volunteer Leadership Roles

SOLitude Lake Management is proud to recognize many of our nationwide colleagues for their new or recurring volunteer leadership roles with prestigious industry organizations across the country. SOLitude employs some of the most experienced and well-connected professionals in the freshwater management industry who share the same goal of making water a more healthy and beautiful part of our world through sustainable lake, stormwater pond, wetland and fisheries management.

Marc Bellaud, President – MA Marc Bellaud has more than 25 years of experience in lake, pond and wetland management, and has been actively involved in advancing the science of the freshwater management industry. He currently serves as Director of the Aquatic Plant Management Society (APMS). Previously, he was the President and Director of the Northeast Aquatic Plant Management Society (NEAPMS) and has remained involved with the organization since it was initially founded in 1999. Bellaud also served as a Director of the New York State Aquatic Managers Association (NYSAMA). In addition, he was a contributing author and co-editor for the third edition of the BMP Manual by the Aquatic Ecosystem Research Foundation (AERF).

Will Stevenson, Director of Integration – MA William Stevenson is a Board of Directors member and past President and Treasurer of the Northeast Aquatic Plant Management Society (NEAPMS). Before joining SOLitude, Stevenson was the owner and president of Lycott Environmental based in Massachusetts. He also serves on the advisory boards of Massachusetts Audubon and the Nashua River Watershed Association, which manages several thousand acres of forest and recreation lands in New England.

Chris Doyle, Director of Biology – NJ Chris Doyle has more than 20 years of experience in the lake management industry and currently serves on the Board of Directors as an Editor, Conference Program Chair and past President for the Northeast Aquatic Plant Management Society (NEAPMS). Doyle is also involved with the North American Lake Management Society (NALMS), through which he serves on the Board of Directors and as a Co-Chair of the Conference Advisory Committee. Additionally, he sits on the aquatic plant technical advisory committee for the New Jersey Invasive Species Strike Team (NJISST), he is a member of the Long Island Aquatic Invasive Species Task Force, and is an active partner with the Lower Hudson Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management (LH PRISM).

Robbin Huffines, Director of Erosion Control Services – FL Robbin Huffines is the President of the Florida Lake Management Society (FLMS) and has long served on the board of directors. He is a leading expert in shoreline erosion control technologies and is passionate about educating our communities about environmental responsibility and conservation. He regularly contributes educational articles to industry publications and serves as a recurring guest speaker on radio stations in Florida.

Kevin Tucker – VA Kevin Tucker is a board member for the Aquatic Ecosystem Restoration Foundation (AERF). He also helped establish the Society of Lake Management Professionals (SLMP) and was a founding board member. SOLitude continues to play an integral part of the board in support of SLMP’s mission to foster an appreciation for and enhance the management of lakes and ponds, managed by for-profit companies, with particular concern for the aesthetic and recreational uses and stewardship of such waters. Tucker is a member of numerous associations dedicated to the improvement of water resources, including the North American Lake Management Society (NALMS), Aquatic Plant Management Society, and Responsible Industry for a Sound Environment (RISE). Likewise, he is a recipient of SePRO Corporation’s prestigious Steward of Water award. He also serves on the board for the Center for Entrepreneurship at James Madison University as an advisor to various student-created venture companies, and further supports these efforts through the Tucker Student Venture Creation Fellowship Endowment. Tucker further supports student development through his participation as an advisory board member for the Masters in Lake Management program with Dr. William Harman at the State University of New York Oneonta. Finally, Tucker is a board member of the VA Chapter of the Young Presidents’ Organization (YPO), a global leadership community of chief executives worldwide.

Glenn Sullivan, Environmental Scientist – NY Glenn Sullivan is the Treasurer of the Northeast Aquatic Plant Management Society (NEAPMS), where he has served on the Board of Directors since 2000. His previous roles include President, Director and Editor. He’s also President of the New York State Aquatic Managers Association (NYSAMA). Sullivan, an Environmental Scientist and Certified Lake Manager, entered the aquatics field in 1993. In 2015, Sullivan was named Preferred Applicator of the Year by SePRO Corporation. He is also the recipient of multiple awards recognizing environmental stewardship, best management practices and sustainable leadership. Prior to joining SOLitude, he was president of Allied Biological in New Jersey.

Bob Schindler, Aquatic Biologist – PA Bob Schindler is a two-time president and current Regional Director of the Pennsylvania Lake Management Society (PALMS), through which he coordinates educational opportunities and annual conferences. He also helps PALMS administer a grant program through the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection’s Growing Greener program. Schindler has served on the PALMS board since 2009. He has been recognized as a Preferred Applicator by SePRO Corporation and is experienced in the management of rare invasive species.

Shannon Junior, Aquatic Ecologist – VA Shannon Junior serves on the Board of Directors as Secretary and Editor for Women of Aquatics (WOA), an organization founded to promote and support women in the lake and pond management industry through professional advancement, continuing education opportunities and peer mentorship programs. Junior has worked in the lake and pond management industry since 2000. In 2013, she received the SePRO Applicator of the Year Award, which recognizes an individual who shows leadership in advancing the science of aquatic plant management.

Emily Mayer, Aquatic Biologist – NJ Emily Mayer is the Student Director for the Northeast Aquatic Plant Management Society, an organization focused on research, education and the sustainable management of freshwater ecosystems and aquatic plant communities. As Student Director, she is responsible for encouraging student involvement and increasing awareness of the organization across social media. She is also a member of the Lower Hudson PRISM, which seeks to protect the rich biodiversity and ecosystems in the Mid-Atlantic through partnerships and collaborations that focus on controlling the introduction, spread, and harmful impact of invasive species.

Kim Niesel, Senior Business Development Consultant – VA  Kim Niesel holds her CMCA (certified manager of community associations) designation, as administered by the Community Association Managers International Certification Board and is involved in several industry-related organizations, including the Southeastern Virginia and Central Virginia chapters of Community Associations Institute (CAI). She has served as a board member and president for both of these associations. Kim is also one of the founders of the Virginia Leadership Retreat and has been recognized several times for her volunteer involvement. She currently serves on the Board for the Virginia Leadership Retreat and is the Chairperson for the Communications Committee of the Southeastern VA CAI.
