Traditional Fountain Lighting

Halogen Bulbs

Nightfountainphotocropped2Traditionally fountain lights have been offered in sets utilizing 75W, 150W, 250W, and 500W halogen bulbs and fixtures. SOLitude Lake Management stopped offering 75 watt halogen fountain light sets and replacement bulbs in the spring of 2013, due to the Energy Independence and Security Act legislation which was created to address the problem of inefficient light bulbs. The 75 watt halogen bulbs that have been used in fountains are being phased out and will no longer be made in the U.S. or imported to U.S. Suppliers. Retailers can sell what they have on the shelves, but once this supply is gone, it is gone.

Other traditional 150W, 250W, and 500W halogen light sets are still available, though it is thought that they too will be phased out in the near future. These sets still offer our clients and those considering a fountain purchase a quality, price competitive option for their fountain lighting needs.

For those existing clients who have traditional 75W halogen light sets, and would like to explore converting to the more energy efficient LED lights  (light emitting diode), SOLitude has taken preemptive steps to ensure that your fountain does not “go dark” as a result of current and future legislation. Working in conjunction with fountain manufacturers, we have a solution that will make your fountain bright and beautiful and will save you money in the process. Instead of having to replace your lighting fixtures right away (which could be a considerable expense), we will only need to replace the bulbs with more energy efficient LED bulbs. For those who have the 150W, 250W, and 500W halogen sets and wish to convert to LED now, we have the ability to adapt your light fixtures to LED lights as well.

LED_versus_halogen_fountain_lights_comparison_b-1Fortunately for everyone, these changes come with cost-saving and performance benefits that will provide long term value. The first benefit is the beautiful, bright glow around your fountain; LED lighting actually has a slightly brighter and clearer light than halogen lights. Next, energy bill costs will be lower; LED bulbs cost an average of 85% less to run (depending on usage) than their incandescent equivalents.
