Co-Volunteers of Quarter 2 Are Making Waves in Their Community
SOLitude is proud to announce Eryn Adrian, Aquatic Biologist, and Matthew Drake, Certified Field Trainer, as our volunteers of the quarter for the second quarter of 2023. SOLitude encourages corporate volunteering and community outreach through our program, The SOLution. Eryn and Matthew have dedicated their time to serving their communities and making a difference in their own backyard.
Partnering with the Audio Information Network
In honor of Heart & SOL Day, Eryn partnered with the Audio Information Network of Colorado and the City of Boulder. Along with Austin Hogan, Operations Manager, Eryn was able to record audio PSA announcements for the visually impaired community to listen to on a state-wide radio broadcast. They also wrote birthday and thank you cards using braille, made native wildflower seed bombs, and picked up trash around the community.
Hannah Gentry, Community Outreach and Communications Specialist said, “I am very fortunate to see every volunteer event that gets recorded for the SOLution. I am always excited to see something different and exciting come across. I feel like Eryn’s outreach is such a refreshing way to volunteer. Being able to provide valuable tools to allow everyone to enjoy the outdoors makes Eryn a great choice for Volunteer of the Quarter. I can’t wait to see how else Eryn volunteers this year!”
Giving back to First Responders and Military Members
Throughout the years, Matthew has teamed up with Guns n Hoses Pipes n Drums of Southwest Florida to assist, join, and organize performances for first responders and the military. They offer their services free of charge for Line of Duty funerals, memorials, and fundraising events for these organizations. Their performances support service organizations while promoting brotherhood through Celtic music. Traditionally, the bagpipes and drums have been used for centuries to celebrate victories and to afford dignity to the solemn occasion of mourning the fallen.
“Matt Drake has found a unique way to give back through volunteering his time and musical talent to an exceptionally respected band,” said Operations Manager Ean Sims. In addition, Sims said, “Matt can’t help but to be touched to see veterans, many for the first time, getting a welcoming cheer and respectful recognition for their service.” Just last year, Guns n Hoses Pipes n Drums was booked for 130 events where Drake continues to make a difference in his community.
