The SOLution

Volunteer of the Third Quarter Impacts Local Florida Community

Through SOLitude’s corporate volunteering and community outreach program, The SOLution, the company has named Customer Service Representative Flo Paterno of Pompano, FL, as Volunteer of the Quarter for the third quarter of 2020. Flo helped lead many impactful volunteering initiatives from July through September.

As one of the most active members of The SOLution program, she plays an important role in identifying volunteering efforts for her local office. Over the last quarter, Flo has positively impacted the lives of senior citizens and youth by creating relationships and learning opportunities.

Most notably, Flo has made a significant positive impact on our elderly during the COVID-19 crisis through her time and creativity. She regularly crafts heartfelt greeting cards to distribute to local nursing homes. She has also “adopted” a grandmother at the Wells Springs Nursing Home and spent numerous hours building a relationship with her through letter writing.

Further, Flo has worked hard to teach and prepare the youth of her church for communion. Flo was dedicated to this effort and committed over fourteen hours of her personal time to help ensure the process was seamless.

Flo is currently the 2nd most active volunteer across the company. In the first three quarters of 2020, she generated 146 personal volunteer hours. Preceding her was Ean Sims of Southwest Florida who was named the Volunteer of the Quarter for the second quarter of 2020.

“Flo is the definition of SOLitude’s mission to serve,” Customer Experience Manager Tara Gamble said. “She exemplifies the greatness of service and selflessness by assisting our most vulnerable populations at a time when they need it the most.”

The SOLution is a company-wide program that encourages the company and all employees to strive to “create a better world” through volunteerism, community outreach, sustainability, and environmental consciousness. SOLitude’s company leadership feels it is important to not only be good stewards of the environment and good corporate citizens but also to fulfill company core values to “take action and be accountable” and to “protect and respect nature.” In 2019, SOLitude colleagues volunteered more than 3,850 collective hours and more than 17,000 hours since the program’s inception in 2012.
