SOLitude Lake Management Names Volunteer of the Third Quarter, 2013
October 30th, 2013
Through our corporate volunteering program, The SOLution, SOLitude Lake Management named Lisa Richards, Fisheries and Wildlife Biologist, as Volunteer of the Quarter for Third Quarter of 2013.
Through her volunteering efforts over the past year as a member of the SOLitude Lake Management team, Lisa has shown her love of the environment and all of it’s creatures. Not only has she been a staple during all Northern Virginia team volunteering activities, including Graves Mountain Watershed and Heritage Days, The Family and Youth Casting Call, and the Madison County Animal Shelter’s Canine and Wine event, Lisa has found a passion of her own to nurture. Over the summer of 2013, Lisa trained as a volunteer at the Raptor Conservancy in Falls Church, VA. This organization is dedicated to the rehabilitation and release of injured, ill or orphaned native Virginia birds of prey and the education of the public about raptors and preservation of their habitat. Lisa’s training to become a volunteer included cleaning cages, preparing food, taking the birds out for exercise and sun and most importantly, conditioning them to fly once they are released back into the wild.
“Lisa has shown great passion in her work and compassion for helping sick and injured birds,” observed Kevin Tucker, owner. “I am proud of her dedication and accomplishments through all of her volunteering efforts.”
