Over $3550 In “HOLiday Cheer” Donations From SOLitude Colleagues
December 19th, 2013
SOLitude Lake Management donated over $3550 in games to health stricken children and gift cards, toys, games, accessories, clothes and other necessities to under resourced families throughout the East Coast.
SOLitude’s Environmental Scientist, John Phelps and his son Jack, deliver HOLiday Cheer gifts to Avon Grove Charter School in West Grove, Pennsylvania. The donations are received by Guidance Counselor, Maggie Johnson (center), Principal Kristen Bishop and daughter, Julia.
In its second year, SOLitude’s “HOLiday Cheer” program grew substantially. The program donated almost 60 percent more to the B-Strong Foundation and “adopted” two more families this year.
Again, SOLitude partnered with the B-Strong Foundation, a non-profit organization that provides meals, gift baskets, and encouragement to families with children who have been diagnosed with cancer. This year, SOLitude donated $870 in video games, which increased $10 for every new social media follower, to add to the donation that B-Strong is making to the oncology floor at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). These games will be delivered to the children over the holiday season.
In addition to the donations to CHOP, SOLitude also “adopted” three families this year. These families, which included nine children in total, were nominated by local elementary schools and staff members. In addition to company-funding from SOLitude, the three families that SOLitude “adopted” received gifts from their wish lists that were purchased and donated by SOLitude employees. The families live in Charlottesville, VA, Chesapeake, VA, and West Grove, PA.
SOLitude’s Service and Inventory Manager, Becky Higgerson and her husband Chris, have a great time wrapping the last of the toys before making the drop off to a Virginia family in need of some HOLiday Cheer.
“Our goal this year was to grow our ‘HOLiday Cheer’ program both in total dollars donated and number of people we could help,” said Tracy King, SOLitude’s Director of Marketing. “And,” she continued, “our team exceeded the expectations for both. They got into the holiday spirit, included their own family members, and generously donated so many nice gifts and games to create much needed HOLiday Cheer this year.”
