Comprehensive Lake and Pond Assessments. A professional assessment is the first step to achieving a comprehensive view of your waterbody’s health. Think of this as a physical for your waterbody. An array of scientific tests are conducted to check its vitals and establish an initial baseline of health. SOLitude offers a variety of waterbody assessment options. Each package includes the creation of a customized, comprehensive report for you and your stakeholders. Your freshwater management professional can help you determine which package is most appropriate based on the history of the waterbody, as well as your unique goals and budget.

Top FAQs About Lake Management. Navigating lake and pond management might feel challenging without proper guidance. Over the years, our aquatic experts have met with various stakeholders and have managed several types of waterbodies. Despite each lake or pond being uniquely different, they noticed the same 10 questions were asked no matter what type of waterbody they were managing. Explore the top 10 frequently asked questions about lake management.

Algae and Weed Control. While algae and weeds appear to be isolated problems, they’re often symptoms of a larger issue – poor water quality. Proactive management solutions are recommended to help avoid algae and weeds. However, when waterbodies are left unmanaged, algaecide or herbicide applications, or other natural control methods, are often the best solutions to help quickly control nuisance growth. Discover how we manage pond weeds and algae.

Fountains and Aeration. Well-circulated, oxygen-rich waterbodies tend to be healthier and more beautiful. When your water is clean and healthy, you can reap benefits such as an enhanced brand image, boosted property values, delighted citizens or community members, and an improved recreational resource. Healthy, oxygenated water can be achieved and maintained year-round with floating fountains, surface aerators, or submersed aerators.

Shoreline Erosion Control. Shoreline erosion is a common, natural phenomenon that can occur as a result of harsh weather, recreation, poor landscape design, or, simply, an aging freshwater ecosystem. If left unaddressed, your lake, stormwater pond, or canal may experience native vegetation and habitat loss, nutrient loading, excess runoff, and other complications. Through SOLitude’s close partnerships, we are pleased to offer a variety of unique shoreline erosion control solutions that halt sedimentation and restore damaged banks.

Alum Applications. Lakes are vital assets that enrich lives, elevate property values, and provide drinking water to our communities. Nutrients like phosphorus and nitrogen are essential to support these aquatic resources, but in excess, nutrients can lead to weeds, algae, and fish kills. In turn, these water quality problems can result in regulatory violations, create public health risks, and damage the reputation of a community. We know maintaining a clean, beautiful lake can be hard. For over 60 years, experts have used an eco-friendly product called aluminum sulfate (alum) to support clean, healthy lakes.

Fisheries Management. The expert fisheries biologists at SOLitude combine advanced-level education and extensive in-the-field training with many years of experience and a deep-rooted passion for lake and pond management. From complete ecosystem management, electrofishing surveys, fish stocking, and fish removal to permitting and regulatory compliance, professional fisheries management is your ticket to a vigorous and sustainable fishery.

Debris and Sediment Removal. There are several proactive management solutions that help slow a waterbody’s aging process such as aeration, nutrient remediation, and vegetative buffer management. Though these practices help keep your lake or pond healthy, there will still come a time when our waterbody will near the end of its lifespan. SOLitude offers hydro-raking and dredging, two solutions that can help restore depth to your waterbody and years of life to your lake or pond.

Stormwater Compliance and Inspections. Stormwater management facilities are man-made structures that help reduce flooding, slow down water flow, and clean pollutants from water. It’s important to ensure that your facilities are functioning properly, especially when it rains. So, let SOLitude Lake Management be your partner in stormwater facility management. Our professionals are certified to inspect all aspects.

Managing Large Lake Systems. Lake management programs can vary widely based on the intended management goals and the unique makeup of each individual lake system. As a result, developing an effective management program for larger systems requires not only a detailed initial biological assessment of conditions but also a high level of applied lake management experience. We have the technical capabilities and management experience necessary to take each project from assessment to implementation.

Golf Course Lake and Pond Management. Golf course lakes and ponds are aesthetically pleasing features, providing a challenge to golfers and often serving as vital irrigation sources for watering turf. Managing a golf course lake or pond, however, can be complicated. These aquatic ecosystems need professional care, and we are dedicated to providing full-service lake and pond management solutions that will help restore balance to your aquatic resources and keep your course looking great.

Drinking Water and Reservoir Management. Cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) and harmful algal blooms (HABs) are a growing concern for water utilities that use surface water supplies. They can contaminate drinking water by producing dangerous toxins and also cause taste and odor issues. From water quality testing and algae identification to cyanobacteria control and ongoing monitoring, our environmental experts are here to properly and efficiently manage your municipality’s reservoirs and help to ensure that customers are provided with clean, safe drinking water.

Advanced Drone Technology. New technologies and innovations continue to propel the lake management industry forward by driving more eco-friendly, efficient, and long-lasting freshwater management approaches. SOLitude is proud to add drone technology to our toolbox of sustainable solutions. Drones support the safety of our teams while preserving the health, beauty, and functionality of your aquatic resources. With this technology, our experts can conduct precise applications remotely without entering dense and precarious terrain on foot or by track-driven equipment.

Lake Mapping Services. Bathymetric lake mapping involves the measurement of water depth and surface area through the use of advanced technologies including high-resolution depth finders, GPS, and 3-D contour imaging. Accurate mapping of water depth and sediment accumulation can be used to tailor site-specific monitoring and management programs to allow for more effective and efficient lake management.

Phragmites Control. Phragmites australis, known as Phragmites or common reed, is a non-native, invasive plant that dominates the land by out-competing surrounding native vegetation. The spread of invasive species is often the result of human activity and management can be extremely difficult. When it comes to Phragmites, SOLitude offers an integrated management strategy that incorporates herbicide applications and mechanical techniques allowing us to gain control of Phragmites and restore the native habitat.

Nanobubble Technology: Long-lasting Water Quality Improvement. As urban development and pollution rise, our aquatic ecosystems suffer from poor water quality as a result. Thankfully, new industry-changing innovations, like nanobubble technology, are becoming available to help combat these obstacles. Nanobubble treatments are a premium oxygenation management tool designed to exceed the oxygenation capabilities of traditional submersed aeration systems and is an exciting solution poised to transform the entire freshwater management industry

Oxygen Saturated Technology. A premium water quality management solution that targets lake anoxia and water quality problems at the source — the sediment. OST is a patent-pending innovation that blankets lake sediments with high levels of oxygen. No other lake and pond aeration solution is capable of achieving comparable oxygen concentrations in this area, making OST the most advanced water quality management solution on the market today.

Nothing But Compliments for SOLitude

SOLitude has been managing our lake for the past two years. Through their efforts, the lake’s water quality has improved tremendously. Even with one of the hottest and dryest seasons, I received nothing but compliments on the water clarity, as well as positive feedback from fishermen about the abundance of healthy fish.

My Pond Is Finally Nice to Look At

This company is amazing! I called and explained the issues I was having with my pond, and Josh came out and assessed my pond. After doing so, he was able to put together a regiment that helped bring my pond back to where it is nice to look at! I would recommend this company to all of my friends and family!

Created An Oasis All Can Enjoy

Our community has a one-acre pond that SOLitude has managed for our 200 homes development. They have done a fine job in maintaining the health of the pond so that people can fish and enjoy the surrounding area, wildlife, and gardens. It is a true oasis in a declining area of green spaces for all to enjoy.

SOLitude Came to Our Rescue

When SOLitude came to our rescue, our pond was covered in water lettuce. As each month went by, the pond became clearer and clearer until now it is completely clear and I am completely grateful that the beautiful, clear pond that was there when we moved in 36 years ago, is once more. Thanks to Mike and everyone at SOLitude who made this possible!

Pleasure to Work With

For the past 2 years as a member of our neighborhood board, I worked personally with Mitchell of SOLitude Lake Management. Our neighborhood has over 40 lakes & ponds. I can honestly say it was a pleasure to work with this vendor. Mitchell provided weekly updates and as our aquatics expert, he helped educate us and assisted in developing a restorative approach to our lake & pond management. It was a pleasure to work with such a knowledgeable representative. Thanks!

From Swamp to Beautiful Water

For about 30 years I watched the encroachment of weeds across my pond, limiting not only our recreational use but our aesthetic appreciation as well. SOLitude Lake Management came in with their hydro-raking harvester and clear it all out! It was the first time I could swim across the entire pond! No swamp, just beautiful water that passers-by slow down to look at.
