Mosquito Control Systems

There are many different mosquito control techniques and methods for reducing the number of mosquitoes that breed in and around your lakes and ponds. You can stock minnows that eat mosquito larvae before they have a chance to develop into an adult or apply a safe biological larvacide to the pond to reduce mosquito breeding. Cattails create stagnant pockets of water that are prime mosquito breeding grounds and should be removed or replaced with beneficial plants that provide habitat for mosquito predators such as the dragonfly.

In addition to these natural deterrents, we also recommend the installation of lake fountains and aeration systems as a means to not only circulate the otherwise stagnant areas of your pond but also provide additional aesthetic enhancements to the overall site. The splashing, wave action, ripples, and overall circulation created with these lake and pond aeration systems will ensure that your aquatic resource never becomes a breeding ground for mosquitoes.

Pest Prevention Products, Techniques And Services

Mosquitoes are a family of small, midge-like flies: the Culicidae. In most cases, mosquitoes breed in the stagnant water of your lake or pond; some lay eggs near the water’s edge; others attach their eggs to aquatic plants.

When left unmanaged, non-native mosquitoes may reproduce at much higher rates and out-compete the native mosquitoes. This can lead to more mosquitoes and a potentially higher rate of disease-carrying mosquitoes around your lake and ponds.

Mosquitoes pose a significant risk to public health, as they carry many debilitating and deadly diseases, such as West Nile Virus. That’s why it’s so important that your lake and pond management program includes mosquito control systems, products, and services to prevent your property from becoming a mosquito breeding ground.
