SOLitude_Named_a_Best_Place_to_Work_2015_eSOLitude Lake Management, an industry leader in lake and pond management, fisheries management and related environmental services for the Eastern United States, is pleased to announce that it has been named to the 2015 Best Places to Work in Virginia list. This is the company's second year named on the list and it ranked 48 in the “Small Employers” (up to 99 U.S. employees) category. The annual list of the Best Places to Work in Virginia was created by Virginia Business and Best Companies Group. SOLitude was honored last Thursday at an awards ceremony at the Williamsburg Lodge in Williamsburg, VA.

Through their community and outreach program, The SOLution, “creating a better world” continued to be the focus for SOLitude throughout 2014. Recorded volunteering hours were up 32 percent and the cash, goods, and services donated were more than double the previous year. The hallmark donation of the year was an $8,290 cash donation to Wounded Wear, a non-profit organization that provides clothing modifications and inspirational opportunities for injured service men and women, as well as graphic clothing to wounded veterans and family members to raise national awareness of their sacrifice. Team events included environmental creek cleanups, educating children about the environment, assistance in local food banks and helping under resourced families and dogs in need of forever homes.

BPTWlogo2015_c“While as a company we focus on environmental sustainability, we have been able to achieve a sense of workplace sustainability as well,” said Kevin Tucker, owner. “Our entire team is dedicated to our mission of 'creating a better world,' and I believe it contributes to how much we all enjoy our work, our clients and our vendor partnerships.”

In addition to encouraging community outreach and environmental stewardship, SOLitude provides their employees with benefits identified in the survey such as 401(k) with match, choice of health plans, rewards for community service, telecommuting options, and free lunches and dinners centered around team meetings and events. To build company culture and encourage camaraderie, SOLitude celebrates birthdays and company milestones at their monthly team meetings. The team is also rewarded in December with an all-expenses paid holiday celebration weekend full of activities, with spouses or significant others included.
