Though the holidays look a little different in 2020, there are still many ways to spread cheer and create a meaningful season for others. This month, SOLitude Lake Management has continued the company's annual HOLiday Cheer tradition, which aims to bring joy to children and families facing challenges during the month of December.
SOLitude's teams collected 382 presents and necessities valued at $4,440 to gift to 103 children as part of the Salvation Army's nationwide Angel Tree initiative. In light of the hardships caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the SOLitude team was proud to support the organization, which had prepared to assist approximately 155% more families than years prior.
Colleagues throughout the country fulfilled wish list items for children between the ages of 1-16. These included items such as books, games, craft supplies, action figures, beauty accessories and sports equipment. Many children were also provided coats, shoes and toiletries.
In addition to Salvation Army contributions, SOLitude also supported several children's hospitals such as the Shriners Hospital for Children in Springfield, MA, the Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters (CHKD) in Norfolk, VA, the Lucile Packard Children's Hospital in Stanford, CA, and Golisano Children's Hospital of Southwest Florida. 241 gift donations were provided as part of SOLitude's holiday social media campaign, which generated $2,800 towards these initiatives.
In total, SOLitude has donated more than $53,589 through the HOLiday Cheer campaign since the initiative began in 2012. These efforts are backed by The SOLution, a company-wide program that encourages and rewards colleagues for volunteering and community outreach. In addition to HOLiday Cheer, SOLitude hosts many other annual programs in honor of Thanksgiving, Earth Day, and the national day of volunteering.
