Ed Bass leads Operations in the North and West territories for SOLitude. Ed has more than 30 years of experience in mid and senior level leadership roles in the transportation, warehousing and specialized logistics industry, leading large operational, sales and account management teams with great success.
As a business owner throughout the 1990s Ed successfully operated a 48 state truckload business that grew to over 450 tractor trailers, employing over 500 Colleagues including administration staff, Drivers, Sales, Account Management and dock operations teams.
Before coming to Solitude Ed spent the previous 15 years with Iron Mountain Records and Information Management where he held several leadership roles including District General Manager overseeing the Texas and Oklahoma operations. Director of Transportation for Iron Mountains North American operations consisting of 95 Districts operating over 3,000 routes per day in a service industry. Most recently for the previous 7 years, Ed held a Regional Director role in the companies Secure Destruction business unit with direct responsibility for 42 transportation depots and 8 shred plants operating in 22 states. In this role Ed and his team of over 600 Colleagues achieved a number of recognition awards including Region of the Year for exceptional financial, customer satisfaction, operational excellence and safety performance in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
Raised in New Mexico Ed spent all of his free time outdoors hunting, fishing and camping where at a young age he gained a deep appreciation for the outdoors. Today he and his wife and high school sweetheart, Tonya live on a large lake southeast of Dallas Texas where they spend much of their spare time outdoors and on the boat with family and friends.
District Manager (TX, TN, CO, AZ)
Patrick Mefferd serves as the District Manager for SOLitude Lake Management’s West, Southwest and Midwest regions. Patrick has nearly two decades of management experience and is responsible for leading the operations of SOLitude’s California, Arizona, Texas and Tennessee offices.
Patrick graduated from Union Institute & University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Emergency Services Management. He has extensive experience supervising and managing teams in different industries, including customer service, hospitality, travel, transportation, and maintenance.
Previously, Patrick spent two and a half years with DBi Services, where he managed highway and interstate projects, ensuring that they were completed on time and within budget. In this role, Patrick focused on project development, resource allocation, and client management, and gained experience leading vegetation management projects throughout the state of Texas. Before DBi Services, Patrick worked for more than 11 years with Avis Budget Group in locations throughout Texas, California, and Nevada.
Patrick’s first experience with the environmental industry began at the age of 16 with the Department of Parks and Recreation for the State of California, where he served as a Senior Park Aid. The role taught him valuable lessons and spurred his love for the outdoors. Patrick enjoys being outdoors and can be found traveling to the beach or mountains with his wife. Often, their travels take them back to his home state of California.
Field Operation Manager, East Texas, Aquatic Specialist
Jason Regester is a Field Operation Manager and Aquatic Specialist who has serviced clients in SOLitude’s Southwestern market since 2007. Jason is experienced in all aspects of water quality testing and restoration, algae and aquatic weed control, fish habitat management and a multitude of other aquatic management services, and takes a special interest in enhancing fisheries through electrofishing surveys and data comparison. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, and is dedicated to continuously expanding and sharing his industry knowledge with SOLitude’s clients.
Wildlife and Fisheries Biologist
Dylan Kwak is a Field Operation Manager and Wildlife and Fisheries Biologist at SOLitude. He is responsible for the ecologically minded management of aquatic vegetation in lakes, ponds and fisheries, and has a special interest in the identification of aquatic plant species. Dylan also works with clients to develop effective, long-term fisheries management plans using fisheries data analysis and sampling.
Dylan earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Fish, Wildlife and Conservation Biology from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, CO, in 2015. During his undergraduate studies, Dylan worked as a summer technician at the Colorado State University Fisheries CO-OP Unit. His job there involved researching the effects of excessive woody debris on high elevation streams and rivers in the Rocky Mountains. Dylan also worked for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service where he performed data entry using TRACS (Tracking and Reporting Actions for the Conservation of Species). Before joining SOLitude, he had a job with Colorado Parks and Wildlife as an Aquatic Database Technician performing data entry.
Growing up in Colorado Dylan was always outside and enjoying the mountains and remarkable views. In his free time Dylan enjoys hiking, backpacking, mountain biking, fishing, and racing motocross.
Regional Sales Manager
Dustin Vassar is a regional sales manager serving SOLitude’s clients in the southwest and west. Dustin is responsible for helping the team build relationships with clients in the region as SOLitude continues to grow.
Dustin comes to SOLitude with an extensive background in new business development. He worked with Ricoh USA, based out of Dallas, Texas, where he was a top contributor in the marketplace. Prior to coming to SOLitude, Dustin worked as a business performance advisor for Insperity in Irving, TX. At Insperity, he was responsible for determining ways to help small businesses succeed, such as reducing administrative costs, attracting and retaining top talent, and shaping company culture.
Dustin is originally from Arlington, TX, and attended the University of Texas at Arlington where he studied Business Finance. Dustin is a member of Toastmasters International where he serves his club as VP Membership and enjoys helping new members with their public speaking skills.
Dustin spends his free time drag racing, playing golf, being outdoors with family and friends and staying active at his CrossFit gym.
