In February 2020, I found SOLitude Lake Management (SLM) on the Internet. Read several articles then signed up for an online seminar. Filled out contact information afterward and received a call several days later from Florida. Based on our location, I was put in touch with the Midwest region. After many phone calls, emails, a site review, and onsite testing over the past eight months, it has been made apparent that SLM is a company staffed with quality individuals. Jennifer Bonzani has been very patient, exceptional in communication, and readily understands our requests; starting with the initial contact back in March. Jay Bagley gave us great input with his site inspection and findings in June. Spencer Hering was on-time, efficient in his task, and personable in interactions with the HOA Board during his September visit. These individuals have given us confidence in presenting the detailed information and results from SLM to our HOA members regarding our current lake situation.

Cole Kabella is my Business Development Consultant and Logan Cowan is our Wildlife and Fisheries Biologist, and between the two of them, they truly do communicate well with each other. There’s been a couple of times when I’ve had concerns about different areas of our lake and I’ve expressed them to Logan. In return, he communicated with Cole (which is extremely impressive that you don’t have one individual just making a off-the-cuff decision about a clients concerns) and the situation every time has been addressed to my satisfaction. Please believe me that I am sincere about my thoughts when I say that I am truly happy and very pleased that I was able to select a company that is able to provide me with personal comfort and a high-level of service, which in my mind, comes from Cole and Logan directly. I am in the service industry and I am well aware of what it takes day in day out to keep a healthy positive clientele.
Kudos to Cole and Logan on there joint service techniques. I’m extremely happy with your company and service. People definitely ask about why our lake is looking so good, especially during this time of the year. I do not hesitate to pass along your company’s name and Cole’s phone number. I believe Cole was able to pick up at least two accounts in the immediate area. Good for you guys. This is living proof that great technicians create great service which is extremely infectious for your company’s reputation. I appreciate you guys.

SOLitude keeps our pond in a healthy condition. We never have to worry about any pond issues since SOLitude is here every month to monitor the health of the water. It is worth the money we pay to have peace of mind. Thank you very much.

Pete Beisler is great to work with. He is highly respected by our lake association members. Peter is always ready to answer difficult questions and he always has a great work ethic.

I just wanted to reach out now that our hydro-raking project is completed and let you know how I really appreciated you guys working with a turbulent schedule! I really enjoyed working with Greg Thompson and seeing how the hydro-rake performed in our scenario. Greg always was flexible and easy going and did a great job figuring out how to remove the solids from our lagoon and pond. Overall, I think the project went great and I am very happy we chose you guys for the task at hand.

Several months ago, we received your newsletter, Aquatics in Brief, in the mail and saw the article about your SOX erosion system. We talked to our "pond guy" Kevin, who explained that we would be a good candidate and hooked us up with Jeff. Jeff came out and spent some time explaining the procedure to us and answering all of our questions... many times.
The job started at the end of May and your guys jumped right in, digging and preparing the bank for the SOX. We were very impressed with their knowledge of the procedure and how hard they worked in spite of the hot temperatures and occasional rain storms. The team of guys kept on working and even showed up on Saturday and Sunday to finish up timely.
As the project wrapped up, we got our delivery of sod. We were told they would be dropping off the pallets around 5:30am, which they did. Your guys came later that morning and started getting the sod put down. They worked hard and did an awesome job... they even put down extra grass where our yard needed it. We were not expecting that and were very pleased how the new yard looked.
All the workers were friendly and professional. They cleaned up their area when the job was finished and didn't seem to mind our ducks and chickens getting in the way. We highly recommend SOLitude Lake Management and the SOX system has transformed our pond. We are thrilled with the results!
Van and Irene Davis, Fort Myers, FL, July 31,2020
I wanted to let you know how pleased all of us around the lake are with the hydro-raking work that Greg Thompson completed today. We were very gratified to sign up a record 57.5 hydro-raking hours and Greg worked very steadily every day since arrival on June 17. We understand that there was a problem with Greg's rake but there was only a very short delay on that first day to switch out the rake. So, Greg was working on different equipment than usual but we certainly couldn't tell. Neighbors were universally pleased with the work and some who had never hydro-raked before signed up during the process (not our preference but we do want to rake as much as we can for the good of the lake). We thanked Greg for his flexibility and his customer service in completing all the hours, even the late requests, and we thank SOLitude for your partnership with the association these many years.

In February of 2019, our owners tasked us with removing the cattails from one of our irrigation lakes that sat along our 9th and 18th fairway. The lake is about an acre and a half of surface area. The cattails were all at least 6 feet or taller. The entire lake edge was covered and in its thickest area’s was about 2 to 3 yards deep.
After our first DIY application, we realized how time consuming and labor intensive this task would be. This was when we reached out to Robert Truax at SOLitude. During his initial visit in May of 2019, we were able to put together a plan of attack. Robert made two trips up to treat the cattails with herbicide, which completely killed the standing cattails. Upon finishing their chemical applications, Robert and another associate began cutting and hauling the cattails from the lake edge to our dumpsters. They had 100% suppression of the cattails in our lake and to this date, we still haven’t seen any regrowth from the cattails. We are more then pleased with the results. We had signed a contract with SOLitude to continue treating our irrigation lakes for algae and aquatic issues. Due to the pandemic we were forced to cancel this contract but once things normalize, we will continue to use Robert and SOLitude for any of our water treatment needs. Robert is personable and professional. He constantly follows up with us and wants to know the status of his work and if there’s anything else he can help us with.

I want to say that your staff does a great job for our property and provides excellent customer service. On Tuesday, they stopped me at the clubhouse to say that they were almost done and if I had anything specific that I wanted done. The crew leader Rene Acevedo suggested treating outside the wall, which they did and it looks fantastic! This also includes Robert Brookins who also stops to tell me what he's doing and asks if there is anything specific I need done. They all treat the property as if it were their own.
Phillip Garside, FL, July 3, 2020
John Phelps - Thank you to you and your crew for going above and beyond on the rain garden project. Not only did this project meet one of my clients expectations once again but it exceeded them. The client was very hesitant going into this project and was not 100% sold that this phase of the project would help solve their drainage issues however, after seeing this project completed my client is beyond pleased.
Thank you again to you and your crew for taking the extra time and patience to walk through the project with the client and to go the extra mile to make sure this project turned out so well.
Julia Porter, DE, June 16, 2020
I would like to take a moment to say thanks to everyone involved in our project at our lake. I worked with Josh Jones in the beginning and then with Jason Regester. The men that helped spread the lime were Rease Patrick and Daniel Meeker.
Everyone on the SOLitude team was pleasant, thoughtful and really had a concern for us. Each one responded promptly and you could tell had a passion for lake management. SOLitude has built a great team with these men and I am grateful to have worked with everyone of them!!
Private Landowner, TX, June 16, 2020
Greg Blackham is always on point! He stops at nothing to get the job done promptly, he is always courteous and never forgets to follow up! The association I manage has contracted with SOLitude Lake Management for the past 10 years because of their dedication and commitment to our community. I look to continue this relationship for years to come.
Community Manager, Bridgeville, DE, May 01, 2020
Mechanical Specialist Greg Thompson did a terrific job with hydro-raking the portion of our pond needing to be clean-up of debris. I'm very pleased with the outcome. It was worth it and also a pleasure meeting Greg. Very nice and talented guy.

I live in an active adult community in Bonita Springs, FL, that has been around for 40 years. I’ve been living in the community for 20 years. Before we hired SOLitude 2 – 3 years ago, we had another company managing our community lake but it always had algae growing on it. I heard people in the neighborhood talking about how great the lake looked and one day, I was walking by the lake and really looked at it for the first time in a while, and it looks better than I’ve ever seen in I don’t know how long! A couple of days later, I see a guy with a boat and walked over and asked if he is the one managing the lake and he introduced himself as Chris Hobbic. I thanked him for keeping our lake in pristine condition. We have a fish fry at the lake every year and this is the first time we will have it with the lake looking beautiful. We invited Chris and his family to the fish fry so people could meet him and thank him for all his hard work. I like catching an employee doing something right, so I was glad I could recognize Chris for what he has done for our community.

I have a small ornamental pond feature on my property that had an unusual erosion problem. I had aquatic creatures undermining the pond banks which would cause them to collapse, then the undermining would begin again. After a few years, adjacent flower beds were in the pond. SOLitude Lake Management recommended the SOX Erosion Control System. They installed the SOX System eight months ago and I saw an immediate benefit. My water went from muddy to clear in days. It turned out to be a heavy infestation of crayfish; they were now visible on the pond edge because they couldn’t burrow in the banks anymore. Nothing has undermined the barrier and vegetation has grown on top of the barrier so that it is no longer visible. It has been an excellent solution to a unique problem. I have trapped hundreds of crayfish since, and much to the delight of the bass, in my larger neighboring pond.
Private Landowner, The Plains, VA, February 21, 2020
All unexpected delays were met with swift solutions, limiting down time, thus, fulfilling the initial scope of requested work without going over budget. The crew kept a positive attitude throughout the project. I've worked with this crew a few times and they continue to get it done. Thank you.

I wanted to take a few minutes to commend one of your employees, Peter Simoes, for the exemplary work he has done on behalf of our HOA located in Riverview, Florida.
The development has 12 ponds located within the community. Each with its own unique needs and issues. I have lived on the largest pond for over 21 years. In that time, this pond has had continuing problems with algae, azolla, duckweed, invasive species, etc. So much so, that most of the year it was a slimy, unsightly and smelly mess. In fact, these problems and lack of proper maintenance from our prior maintenance company, lead me to volunteer 4 years ago as Pond Chair for our HOA. After 2 more years of struggling to get our old maintenance company to address the issues on this pond as well as several others, we hired your company.
Shortly after that, Peter became our account representative. The difference a dedicated, knowledgeable and diligent person can make to the situation is unbelievable. He is always punctual in responding to my requests and inquires (which have been many over the years) and has great follow through. Over the last year and half, he has worked tirelessly to get all of our ponds looking better. We still have 3 or 4 problem ponds with an array of different issues but he stays on top of them and comes up with creative ways to address their needs. While they will never be perfect like some of the other more stable ponds, they have improved by leaps and bounds. We have had lake assessments, dye treatments, additional monthly treatments, aeration systems reviewed, plantings recommended, etc. While some of the options were not feasible, others have been helpful in stabilizing them. The greatest improvement has been from consistent treatments, follow through and attention to details. Additionally, Peter has patiently shared his knowledge and expertise with me so that I have a better understanding of the needs and workings regarding the delicate aquatic balance of the ponds. Plus, he was able to relay this information in a way that I, as a layperson, was able to understand. This knowledge has allowed me to educate the Board so that Peter's recommendations were favorably considered by them.
Not only has his work made an impact on my life and those of my neighbors, but the following is an excerpt from an email I received recently from a homeowner. This is a small example of the compliments I receive from different homeowners on various ponds in the community.
"Our pond was once an ugly, algae ridden pond and now it is a beautiful pond! No complaints here. Thank you for all the hard work you have done to make us proud of our pond. I’m looking at it and love it!"
This email is directly a result of Peter and his crew’s efforts. You truly are blessed to have such a wonderful young man in your employ. He is a credit to himself and your company. I hope you realize the wonderful asset you have in him.
I and all of the pond neighbors thank Peter for all of his hard work and dedication on our behalf. It truly has made a difference in our daily lives since a large part of our enjoyment is the water view from our homes. More importantly, the wildlife on the ponds also benefits from a healthier, more stable environment.
HOA Pond Chair, Riverview, FL, December 19, 2019
I wanted to let you know that Daniel Caballero is doing an amazing job. He is such a hard worker and very personable. The homeowners are very happy with the ponds. Every time I ask him to look at a pond, he gets right on it and even talks to the homeowners who have concerns. He is doing a great job and is an asset to your company and to community. Thank you, Daniel…keep up the great work.
Community Coordinator, Riverview, FL, December 9, 2019
I just wanted to take a moment to say how I actually feel about SOLitude Lake Management. First, a brief background on myself. I am an Association Manager and manage communities as small as 18 units to communities over 400 units. I have been managing for 13 plus years. I see vendors that do range from “The Good, Bad, and The Ugly.”
I would say that when it comes to the services SOLitude performs for me, now and over the last 13 years, you guys “set the bar.” I have never had to call you all about a complaint. You understand that – Never! When I do call it is because a fountain has just gone down or maybe the Board is requesting additional services. Whatever the issue, you guys treat me like a multi-million-dollar business. I can call once and forget about it because I know it is going to be taken care of.
Thanks for all of your help and I wish you all the best.
Association Manager, Virginia Beach, VA, December 4, 2019
We are VERY satisfied with the hydro-raking work Jake Raisner did. All the property owners, including my wife and I, are extremely pleased. It was a very positive experience for our entire community. All of us would do it again without hesitation. Several previously un-interested neighbors have now expressed interest in hydro-raking in 2020. His skill, flexibility, personality, patience and consideration of each homeowner's individual concerns, and the care with which he minimized the impact to the shorelines made a very positive impression upon all of us. We love our lake, we are (I admit) a bit sensitive regarding it, and the launching of the hydro-rake had the potential to upset people (we normally allow no motors whatsoever in our lake, not even trolling motors). However, I heard nothing but highly positive praise from everybody regarding the hydro-raking in general, and Jake in particular. As president of the Lake Association, this means a great deal to me.
President of Lake Association, Sand Lake, NY, November 14, 2019
I have Cole Kabella as our sales representative and Logan Cowan as our field representative. Both of the gentleman do a superb job on explaining the pond management process. So far, I am about five months into management and it has been an incredible experience. My pond (3 acres) has undergone an extremely great transformation with Cole’s expertise and Logan’s timely manner. Logan always takes the time to email me and explain exactly what is being done every visit. This info is very important to me. I see a great value in your services and I really appreciate a good company that can provide to its customers.
Private Landowner, Burton, TX, October 30, 2019
The SOLitude Team is always on point. Courteous, knowledgeable and consistently available with answers to questions - always within minutes. Our Aquatic Specialist, Greg Blackham is very knowledgeable and consistently shows his commitment to customer service and our facility.
Property Manager, Bridgeville, DE, July 24, 2019
SOLitude stands behind their work. They keep their customers informed and they care that their clients are satisfied with their service. We appreciate Nick Hanna taking the time to personally meet with us to discuss the maintenance plan for the lake. He is friendly, knowledgeable and offered helpful suggestions in keeping the lake clean from algae and preventing erosion along the water’s edge. Service is excellent.

I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere thanks and appreciation for all of the help you and your staff provided during the recent toad "dilemma" experienced in within the community. The fact that you took time to research possible solutions for us was a small measure of the amount of support that we were shown during that time. Alberto Florez went out of his way on more than one occasion to check the situation, to advise me what could or couldn't be done and literally to hold our hands while we worked through this phenomenon of Mother Nature. Nothing short of draining the lakes and turning them into green space would have suited many of the owners in the community but with the assistance of SOLitude, we were able to give them answers regarding the importance of the ecological balance of the surface water throughout the community. To sum it all up - your company is the BEST! I enjoy working with your staff and hope the relationship is one that will continue for years to come.
Property Manager, Palm Beach Gardens, FL, May 7, 2019
SOLitude has been a tremendous partner of ours in helping the vision come to life for our communities and homeowners. The options offered can be sure to cover any need one may have from pond fountains to pond maintenance, they can do it all. I highly recommend their services and will continue to use them for years to come.
Land Development Project Manager, Myrtle Beach, SC, December 17, 2018
For about 30 years I watched the encroachment of weeds across my pond, limiting not only our recreational use, but our aesthetic appreciation as well. It got to the point that islands were forming from building sediment. SOLitude Lake Management came in with their hydro-raking harvester and clear it all out -- even the islands! It was the first time I could swim across the entire pond! With a couple years of herbicide treatments, it continues to look good as new. No swamp, just beautiful water that passers-by slow down to look at. I'm sure this restoration added value to my house as well.
Private Landowner, Chester, CT, November 27, 2018
We have been very pleased with SOLitude for the past two years. We bought a house with a 2-acre pond and suddenly it was covered with algae and looked nothing like what we saw when we bought it. We found SOLitude online and they responded very quickly and professionally. They assessed the situation and within 2-3 months we had a beautiful pond. They continue to maintain the pond in excellent condition. Peyton Woods and Alex Abriola keep us informed and are very knowledgeable about what changes are going on with each season. Thank you!

It has been a pleasure doing business with SOLitude. They are very professional, listen to my needs and provide the best solution for any issues. I would recommend SOLitude to anyone who is looking for solutions for their lakes or ponds as they have the knowledge to handle any issues.
Facility Specialist, Melbourne, FL, November 19, 2018
There has never been a time when I have requested service and it wasn't provided in a timely, professional fashion. When it comes to lake or fountain maintenance, I never have a concern because SOLitude is on the job!
Property Manager, Palm Beach Gardens, FL, November 13, 2018
At each encounter with SOLitude, the folks treat me with respect and have a helpful attitude. And when one of my directors’ contact SOLitude, they treat them in the same manor. The people covering the phone calls listen to my issue and direct me immediately to the person that will deal with that issue. Dominic Meringolo was our initial go-to guy but for the last two years we have been assisted by Josh Perry. Josh takes my calls even when he is working with other customers. Josh always will give me his estimated time of arrival and usually stays on time. SOLitude has helped us calibrate our water testing equipment and reviewed proper operational procedures with us. SOLitude understands we have Town matching funds that take time to be approved for payment. SOLitude deals with our three interested entities seamlessly (The Town, the Town Lake Committee and the Lake Association).
Belchertown, MA, November 1, 2018
SOLitude Lake Management has been the lake management company for Lake D’Evereux, located in Alexandria, VA for 5 years now and we have found them to be very professional and responsive to our needs of keeping the lake free of algae and other debris. They also service the lighted fountains when needed. Recently, they installed turtle logs in the lake and we have been enjoying watching the turtles, birds and otter play on it! The team members are friendly, receptive and willing to discuss lake maintenance options when signing the contract.

My experiences with SOLitude Lake Management has been nothing short of fantastic! I am an Environmental Science high school teacher and started my relationship with SOLitude last year when my students decided they wanted to take on the task of making a local pond more sustainable for a community project. I didn't know where to start. I happened to see a SOLitude truck driving down 295 in New Jersey. I reached out via the website on the contact us page. A day later, John Phelps reached out to me, he was immediately on board with helping me in anyway way that he could. John became a valuable resource for me and my students for our ongoing pond restoration/sustainability project. John Phelps has been an educational resource for my students, talking to them about all aspects of pond restoration and careers that students could pursue. He has helped us create action plans for our pond and has devoted his time to helping us plant vegetation, test our water and clean our pond. John and his team at SOLitude have been a crucial aspect to the success of my students being able to work on this community project. We would not be able to continue the project without their help and support. John and his team are professionals through and through, that not only care about their job but they care about the communities and helping to educate the students in those communities about conservation. Every interaction I or my students have with John or a member of his team is always such a fun, learning experience! I hope that the relationship my students have with SOLitude continues to grow. Thank you for all you do!

First, I would like to say working with SOLitude Lake Management the past several years has been a real pleasure. Their technicians have been very attentive and provided a high level of service and care to our waterbodies. All of us at the golf club have been pleased with the results thus far, and we look forward to continuing our relationship with SOLitude in the future.
Golf Club Superintendent, Charlotte, NC, February 5, 2018
Everything with the Hydro-Rake is going well. All the home owners have complimented Jamie Cote on his professionalism, his expert ability to operate the rake and his careful treatment of property. He is easy to work with and very helpful. So far thanks for a great job!
Private Landowner, Virginia Beach, VA, January 24, 2018
We would like you to know how much we enjoyed Ray Sherwin being here and the work he did for us. Ray is a top-notch worker for your company. His long hours in a VERY hot summer were above what we could have asked for. He removed 4-5 times the debris from the lakes in less time than had been done in the past. The great job he did is worth noting. If more work is contracted in the future, we hope to see him again.

Our answer is "most definitely yes." We would very much like to automatically renew our contract with SOLitude Lake on an ongoing basis. We were extremely pleased with the management SOLitude provided this year and with Eric Kuhn, both as a service technician and as an individual. Eric is an excellent representative for your firm.
Private Landowner, Lexington, MA, December 28, 2017
My experience with SOLitude Lake Management was excellent. My pond in central Illinois was overgrown with coontail and algae, which was creating stress for my fish and waterfowl. Even while we were on the initial phone call, SOLitude was able to map my property and recommend a two-step treatment program. The treatments did an excellent job of clearing the unwanted vegetation and I saw no signs of harm to the catfish, bass, and other fish. The birds are happy again, too. Several weeks have passed since the final treatment and the pond is still looking great.
Private Landowner, Weldon, IL, November 1, 2017
Our beautiful 82 acre pond was being choked by Eurasian Milfoil. It had been treated with a herbicide about 10 years ago but the milfoil returned with a vengeance. I contacted Joe Onorato from SOLitude and he was very helpful in guiding me through the process of permitting, weed survey and suggested treatment. Dominic Meringolo, Senior Environmental Engineer for SOLitude, then directed the actual treatment. Dominic worked closely with me and even took me around the pond on his boat to survey and explain the process. They used Sonar Genesis and treated the pond 3 times during the summer. It is a slow acting chemical and took all summer to finally kill the milfoil. When I think back a few months ago, I’m amazed at the result! I’m a swimmer and I couldn’t find a single living milfoil plant on my swim yesterday. Early this summer I couldn’t swim in many parts of the pond because the weeds were so thick. These guys know what they are doing!
Winchester Center, CT, October 6, 2017
Cory Smith is very professional. He understands the intricacy of our development and works with us to ensure the community is satisfied. When I contact him regarding any new issues, he usually is already working out a solution before I contact him. This indicates to me that he is watching our ponds on a regular basis. I think Cory is great!
HOA President, Terrel, TX, October 5, 2017
I am very pleased with your customer service. Any questions that we have and all the changes we did to our lake management plan have been keeping our lake beautiful and in great shape. Every question gets answered quickly and you have helped us stay within our budget for treating our lake. Thank you to all your wonderful office and onsite staff.
Grounds Supervisor, Pawling, NY, September 26, 2017
SOLitude has transformed my small, spring fed pond from a swampy eye sore back to its original glory, and in the process made it healthy again. Just ask the fish, frogs and turtles. And with the addition of a fountain equipped with lights has made it just so beautiful. The techs and entire support staff are very responsive to my needs.
I couldn't be more pleased.
Private Landowner, Hingham, MA, September 22, 2017
We are very happy with SOLitude’s service. Our pond has looked good and we appreciate receiving notifications when our service person has been here to check the pond. His reports as to what was done on each visit are also appreciated, so that if we are beginning to see a problem, it's good to know that he has as well and has begun treating it. We do enjoy seeing our pond while we eat dinner on the patio almost every evening all summer!

My experience with SOLitude Lake Management has been excellent this past season. My representative, Paul Conti, has been dependable, courteous and pleasant to work with each and every visit. I can always count on Paul to call me a few days ahead of time to let me know he is planning a visit and another call when he is on property. Without disruption, Paul can independently and effectively navigate the course to evaluate and then treat any or all of our 7 ponds. Best of all, the treatment results have eliminated a major water quality concern and kept the ponds healthy and clean all summer. I am looking forward to another season with SOLitude Lake Management next year.
Golf Course Superintendent, Darien, CT, September 21, 2017
Working with the SOLitude Team during my time as the manager of our HOA was a pleasure. We started out working with John Phelps and Carl Cummins. As the environmental scientist assigned to the property, Carl was always available to answer my questions and address the concerns of the homeowners who live along the basin. Carl was always professional, patient and willing to help. Aquatic Biologist, Bob Schindler, came onboard as part of the team when we had more extensive concerns that needed additional expertise. Although I am no longer the manager at that association, I am confident that SOLitude will continue to maintain the retention basin and the shores around it. I look forward to working with them again at another site should the opportunity arise. Keep doing what you are doing, SOLitude. I will continue to be a fan and promote your company whenever possible.
Community Manager, Woolwich, NJ, September 18, 2017
I would like to comment on the outstanding job that Craig Lyman performed on our lake. His determination and dedication to restore the lake to its original beauty by ridding the lake of water chestnut and enhancing the growth of the fish and fowl for all to enjoy. Even in adverse conditions of the boat breaking down in the middle of the lake, Craig's determination was seen as he emulated Humphry Bogart and pulled the boat back to shore just like The African Queen. Once on shore, he efficiently and skillfully made repairs that would find the boat back in the water. His hard work and commitment should be a benchmark for all of his peers.
Massapequa, NY, September 18, 2017
Our Homeowners Association is pleased to have a professional relationship with SOLitude Lake Management. SOLitude manages two lakes in our subdivision. We have been extremely pleased with SOLitude! The employees are professional, follow up and execute on their commitments. Monthly summary service reports are provided which are detailed, easy to understand and provide easy updates to the neighborhood. I highly recommend SOLitude Lake Management.
Association Chairman, Grayson, GA, September 17, 2017
SOLitude has been our stormwater management company for 6+ years. The staff at SOLitude was patient when we transitioned from our developer to the HOA by helping us to understand how to maintain functioning stormwater management bio-retention basins and ponds. Unfortunately, there are not many bio-retention basins in our county; therefore, information on caring for the bio-retention basin was limited. Thanks to SOLitude for helping us understand the functionality of the bio-retention basin and for recommending a maintenance plan.
Service plans with SOLitude are unique since communities are unique. SOLitude provides regular service with monthly reports and fast responses to emails. John Phelps is our account manager and Greg Blackham is our primary point of contact. Greg is patient and has dealt with many different personalities in our HOA. Initially, when I assumed responsibility of the stormwater management area in our HOA, Greg worked with me to understand how to maintain healthy basins and ponds. Greg is an exceptional person and is diligent in maintaining healthy, functioning stormwater management for our HOA.
I would recommend SOLitude for their expertise of maintenance for stormwater management in your community.
HOA President, Lewes, DE, September 16, 2017
The Board of Directors is extremely pleased with SOLitude's maintenance service of our five community ponds. We can depend on timely and knowledgeable service and treatments as required. Wes Allen and Kirk McDannell are very responsive. Service, follow-up and submission of reports are excellent. I highly recommend SOLitude!

We have been working with SOLitude for several years and we have been especially pleased with the level of service. Dominic Meringolo has always gone above and beyond to assist us in any way. Rebecca Giguere, Josh Perry and Matt Salem truly rose to the occasion to ensure our alum treatment was completed recently, working through sun, rain, lightning and hail all in one day and staying until nearly 8pm to finish.
Lake Association President, Worcester, MA, September 16, 2017
I would like to begin by saying thank you to Trent Nelson because without him our ponds would still be a hot mess. His level of customer service combined with his knowledge is a powerful force for SOLitude Lake Management. Each team member I have had the pleasure of working with has always been extremely helpful and knowledgeable. SOLitude Lake Management comes highly recommended from me! Thank you again.
Community Association Manager, Fort Mill, SC, September 15, 2017
SOLitude is very responsive to emails and requests for service calls. I've been extremely happy dealing with everyone at SOLitude over the years. Kyle Finerfrock has been extremely responsive, even after normal business hours.
Lake Association President, Poquoson, VA, September 14, 2017
I have a large community that has a number of ponds. Prior to going with SOLitude we had many issues with algae, weeds, trash and the fountains not working. We signed on with SOLitude and after they did an assessment of the conditions of our ponds things starting changing quickly. When we have any issues with the ponds, fountains lights, etc., Wes Allen is on top of the problem right away. I also use SOLitude for other communities that are not as large and they do an outstanding job!
Community Manager, Bethany Beach, DE, September 14, 2017
I have been working with SOLitude Lake Management for many years and we have always been very pleased with their service and response to any issues that have been reported. I have many interactions with Kim Niesel and she has always been knowledgeable and professional. I have enjoyed working with Kim and look forward to working with her and the company for years to come.
Community Manger, Yorktown, VA, September 12, 2017
Our swimming area in town was in dire need of algae control. We had tried treating on our own for a few years to no avail. SOLitude was informative, patient and very helpful to work with from start to finish. They walked us through the whole process, helped us with all of the paperwork and during the treatment phases was willing to work with our operating schedule so that we lost minimal swimming hours. Our swimming area has never looked better and has saved our grounds crew hours of work from having to remove algae. We are grateful for everything SOLitude has done to help us keep our swimming area looking beautiful and safe for our staff and patrons.
Parks and Recreation Director, East Windsor, CT, September 12, 2017
The communication that is provided when SOLitude completes services is excellent and consistent. The experience and knowledge of the staff exceeds the market. Working with Kim Niesel to identify community needs is always helpful, informative and proposals are timely. Thanks SOLitude for always exceeding expectations!
Association Manager, Suffolk, VA, September 12, 2017
We have been using SOLitude’s services on our two small lakes for six years and could not be more pleased. Our interactions have always been very professional and friendly. From the beginning when they stocked the lakes, through today when they perform all the maintenance, we have never had a problem. They are always quick to respond to any problem that arises and find a solution. Robert Callaway is terrific, helping to coordinate and resolve all issues. Thank you!
Private Landowner, College Station, TX, September 5, 2017
From what looked like an ever-encroaching lily-pad swamp we could barely swim through, to a weed-free, swimmable pond that my wife and I are proud of. The transformation was unbelievable!
I can vouch that the people I worked with at SOLitude Lake Management were incredibly helpful, honest and personal—taking care to deliver exactly what we wanted. Colin Gosselin's honesty, which in the end saved us money, convinced me that I was dealing with a company I could really recommend. Just last week a man who lives in town was so impressed by our results that he called me on behalf of his own pond. I enthusiastically recommended SOLitude Lake Management. No doubt he will be just as pleased as we are.
Private Landowner, Chester, CT, September 5, 2017
I feel fortunate to have found SOLitude. Their service has actually saved the natural water habitat of our family farm. Brent Weber is a knowledgeable leader willing to educate his customers. His words and actions are reliable. Thank you!
Private Landowner, Knoxville, TN, September 5, 2017
I appreciate the fact that SOLitude Lake Management works with our Lake’s Association on planning what we need to consider as action steps to keep our lake healthy. SOLitude always takes my calls and proceeds as we had agreed. Being a small customer, I appreciate being treated as a good customer.
Lake Association President, Belchertown, MA, August 31, 2017
When my wife and I decided on a company to help with our private lake, our hope was to find a company who would share our goals and help make our dream come true. SOLitude succeeded! Our water is clean, clear and healthy. Our fish are large and it’s a joy to watch our grandsons (ages 4 and 7) reel them in with excitement money can’t buy. Our fountain is beautiful and has been dependable from day 1, running day and night for 3 years now. Trent Nelson has been polite and answers questions when we have concerns and we’ve have obviously been pleased. I would recommend SOLitude Lake Management to anyone owning and managing a body of water. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then look at my picture and I’ll stop typing…enjoy, because we sure have!

We have consistently received great service and excellent communication. I recommend SOLitude above all others. Hunter Poland is excellent! I have nothing but great things to say about his work, his level of communication and his professionalism. We feel very fortunate to have him as our assigned representative from SOLitude.
Private Landowner, Bluemont, VA, August 28, 2017
Both SOLitude and Wes Allen get my highest recommendation. The transformation of my pond has been nothing short of amazing. It went from a big lily pad that was a mosquito haven to a spectacular feature of the property. The pond was dead and is now healthy again, all in a period of about 6 months.
Private Landowner, St. Michael's, MD, June 21, 2017
Paul - As I mentioned to you in our last phone call, Logan Cowan has, for the last year or so, been the person I work with on my ponds. I could not be more pleased with his work. He works hard, is always on time, he phones and keeps me informed, he explains the pros and cons of treatment alternatives, etc., I could go on. Bottom line - this young man is an asset to your company. Keep him and promote him. Thank you for all you do for me.
Private Landowner, Navasota, TX, June 20, 2017
Our retention pond at our residential community was in need of a major facelift. SOLitude Lake Management was able to turn our eye sore into a beautiful amenity for our residents to enjoy. Working with Kirk McDannell is always easy. He is so helpful and pleasant while making sure our pond is in top shape. His positive attitude and hard work proves that we made the right decision by choosing SOLitude to make our pond beautiful!
Property Manager, Newark, DE, June 16, 2017
On behalf of the abutters on the pond, I want to thank Jeff Castellani and Jamie Cote for an outstanding hydro-raking job! I received incredible feedback on the quality of the work and in particular, how nice and professional Jamie is. My personal interaction with him was really positive. The world needs more people like him right now. Thank you again, we look forward to working with you next year.
Homeowner & Pond Committee Coordinator, Wellesley, MA, June 16, 2017
Thank you, Chris Doyle, for doing the leg work with regard to aphanizomenon. The level of service and professionalism which we have always experienced from you, as well as from Deb Mills, and the other folks, along with SOLitude Lake Management as a whole, is what has kept us as loyal customers amid a growing pack of other lab options. Thank you again.
Supervising Operator, Newburgh, NY, June 12, 2017
The Board of Directors are very pleased with the work performance of Brandon Tindley. He is proactive, accessible for any questions, and is very knowledgeable on weed control and which plants are acceptable. Shortly after maintenance of the ponds is completed, a report is distributed acknowledging that service was provided. The Board feels very confident their ponds are in good hands.
Community Manager, Lewes, DE, June 1, 2017
I just wanted to make a note that Paul Conti is an excellent employee. I was really impressed with the care that he used in treating the lake this year. On treatment day I took note of his thoroughness with which he executed the treatment. He took the time to make sure the coverage was complete. The results seem to corroborate this observation as the weeds dropped off more rapidly and more completely than past treatments. I do know that many factors affect successful treatments, but I believe his work was an important part of the whole picture.
I had to stop him to tell him how much I appreciated his work and I'd like to tell you the results of the treatment have been quite effective. Lake Miranda looks beautiful. I'm glad to have Paul in the new Danbury, CT office.
Lake Miranda Association, Stamford, CT, May 17, 2017
Thank you Dominic Meringolo and your team for getting the new Order of Conditions done in such a professional manner. I have to tell you that Kara Sliwoski was so well prepared for our second meeting. No matter what was asked or thrown at her, she had an answer ready. I sat back and watched how great and confident she was throughout the meeting, and how happy she was making the audience. She is an amazing person who can walk a fine line of treating people with respect while keeping them on point. We are very lucky to have her on our side and SOLitude’s as well. My job is so much easier thanks to SOLitude!
Cranberry Meadow Lake Association, Spencer, MA, May 1, 2017
Wes Allen and Greg Blackham have been very responsive to the needs of the Bayview Landing Community. They met with the Pond Management Committee for over an hour on February 27th. After that meeting, they quickly prepared a bid that was shared with the Property Manager for services that we had discussed. They both also agreed to present educational information at an Open Community meeting. The meeting was held and approximately 20 residents attended. They both did an outstanding job on the presentation of information and answering resident’s questions. Written materials were provided to help educate the community and after asking if they had PDF files of the documents they quickly sent them to me. Their responsiveness and professionalism is really appreciated! As a result of the meeting, our community is much better situated to make sound decisions about living with the wildlife in our community

Three years ago, the property owners around our lake in Greenfield, New Hampshire asked SOLitude to help us eliminate a quarter acre of invasive Phragmites in the lake after ten years of uninhibited growth. We are delighted with the results! Marc Bellaud got us started and Pete Beisler has led the charge on the site. They have given us great advice and leadership, answered every question, provided thorough professional service, and made themselves generously available in person, by phone and email. We could not have asked for more. Our state environmental service officials recommended SOLitude. They said that SOLitude is the best. They were right. The Phragmites are gone after only two years of our three-year plan. Our lake is healthier. We are happy. Thanks, SOLitude!
Sunset Lake Property Owners Association, Greenfield, NH, March, 11, 2017
I wanted to take a moment to compliment the company and most of all my service specialist who has transformed our small pond into a wonderful, clear fish pond for my grandchildren. I had been looking for someone who specialized in water quality and what should be done to improve my pond. I lucked out when someone mentioned SOLitude Lake Management company. When contacting Trent Nelson, I was pleasantly surprised to find a person that not only had a great deal of knowledge but was very professional with his suggestions to make my pond improvements. His customer friendly approach gave me confidence to move forward with his plan. Throughout my experience, I have been so pleased with the service, the results of what it has done to our pond, and the continued suggestions to improve the pond further. I also was impressed with the company and their excellent communications with their customers. Trent’s instant messages of what he performed at his inspection of the pond and complete summary of what has been accomplished to date was very helpful. This is something that just doesn’t happen in today’s non-customer friendly world. Very nicely done! Having owned my own business for number of years, I have been totally impressed and would recommend SOLitude without hesitation. My grandkids thank you and we look forward to seeing the transition that will continue to happen this next year.
Private Landowner, Sparta, NC, January 23, 2017
I contracted with the SOLitude Lake Management Team 3 years ago, to help address the abundance of aquatic weeds taking over our irrigation pond. The Club was more interested in a mechanical removal approach to our weed problem versus a broad spectrum chemical treatment. Jeff Castellani and his team developed a plan that was well suited for our environmentally sensitive location. The mechanical hydro raking service that SOLitude provided was the perfect solution and worked very well in our shallow irrigation pond. Though more labor intensive, the results are promising. We look forward to working with Jeff and his professional staff in the coming years.
Private Golf Club, Hyannis Port, MA, December 2, 2016
We are exceptionally pleased with SOLitude’s work. They have taken a sick, unattractive pond and made it healthy and beautiful. Their field staff are superbly qualified and their customer service folks are very friendly and responsive. I doubt we could be more pleased. Great job SOLitude!
Private Landowner, Purcellville, VA, November 26, 2016
SOLitude Lake Management has been and will continue to be my “go to” firm for all things lake, pond and BMP related. The staff is knowledgeable, friendly and willing to always go that extra mile. Their responsiveness to questions, concerns or work orders is fantastic. They have taken the time to educate my homeowners, and me, and have worked with me to find cost effective solutions that are sometimes outside of the box. Keep up the great work!
Regional Manager, Newport News, VA, November 9, 2016
SOLitude provides excellent service, attention to detail and good old fashioned reliability. Mike Lennon, in his role with SOLitude, has an uncanny ability to identify a problem, get us through the Conservation Commission process and act fast with a remedy. That gives our district the feeling of a "job well done" from all the residents.
Sherwood Forest Lakes District, Farmington, CT, November 2, 2016
I have had the pleasure of working with SOLitude Lake Management over many years after I bought my home with a man-made pond in the early 1990s. Recently, Kyle Finerfrock has been a tremendous help with my pond through his assistance installing a new motor for our fountain. He has always been knowledgeable, professional and helpful, which I truly appreciate. Keep up the good and professional work!
Private Landowner, Williamsburg, VA, November 2, 2016

Kendall Pond has never looked so good! A property owner that comes up from Florida for the summer told me that the pond was as clear this year as it was when she was a child. Everyone who has visited the pond has told me that this year was the clearest they have seen it in years and it’s all thanks to SOLitude! Dominic Meringolo and Matt Salem have done a great job and they both should be complimented for their work and communication with our association.

As this was my first time working with SOLitude Lake Management, I just wanted to tell you how pleased I am with the service! The reports are so helpful and I greatly appreciate the frequent communication received from our service technician. I am very impressed with the company’s professionalism and follow-through. It really makes a manager’s job so much easier. Thank you!

Just imagine a world where a real nice person answered the phone, recognized your voice and greeted you with respect. And if she couldn't immediately answer your question, got back to you by the next day or referred you to an expert who was knowledgeable, patient and anxious to help. No, we are not in the Twilight Zone. We are at my regional office of SOLitude Lake Management in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts. I really mean it. They do their best to balance our lake's natural beauty and health!
Lake Miranda Association, Stamford, CT, October 3, 2016
My firm works with SOLitude on many projects, so when I needed aeration on my dog training ponds, I knew they were the place to call. They responded the same day to my email and delivered a proposal the next day. Installation was two weeks from the signed proposal – and totally seamless. I could not meet the SOLitude staff on site due to my schedule, so I stopped by that night to see a completed installation exactly as we discussed. And now the pond’s algae has disappeared!
Private Landowner, Gainesville, VA, September 23, 2016
I am a Property Manager for ResortQuest Management and over see many large lakes at Sea Colony a resort in Bethany Beach. One of the larger lakes that is surrounded by homes and viewed by many guests suddenly turned into what I would call a giant algae fest. I contacted SOLitude Lake Management and spoke to Wes Allen who was able to evaluate the situation and immediately treat the issue. The situation was turned around quickly, restoring the lake back to its natural beauty.
Property Manager, Bethany Beach, DE, September 22, 2016
I have been a customer of SOLitude Lake Management for several years. Now that I have sold the property that SOLitude took care of for me, I wanted to take a moment to recognize the great service I have received over the years. Without your help this property wouldn’t have been any where near as magnificent. The responsiveness and professionalism that your organization provide as well as the skill and attention to detail that Colin Gosselin brings to his job has been a pleasure.
Thank you for years of your service and help!
Private Landowner, Groton, CT, July 14, 2016
I am the proud owner of a one-acre pond and have been looking for a partner to help me keep it beautiful. SOLitude Lake Management has been a pleasure to work with! Their customer care is one of the best I have experienced ever - hands down. From initial contact thru the first visit, SOLitude Lake Management has communication figured out. Looking forward to a long relationship keeping our pond in great shape!
Private Landowner, North Chesterfield, VA, June 23, 2016
The Oyster Rock stormwater retention pond was basically a fine mess when the community took over its care in the transition from developer. We took on the initial clearing of the overgrown phragmities to the point that water was visible. We initially contracted with a company to manage the ponds care, but was not satisfied with the progress and lack of communication. In December we reached out to SOLitude to take over its care starting in January 2016. All I can say is “what a difference they have made.” They epitomize how a company should operate! Saying that, the staff constantly keep me informed, both by email and by phone calls. Something I desired from the beginning. They offer advice and explain things in detail, but in terms you can understand! The pond is really shaping up! It's only been a few months, but I can see a long, healthy, business relationship between SOLitude Lake Management and Oyster Rock!

Camp Holiday Trail's pond, located near the entrance of Camp, welcomes our campers with special medical needs and autism to their camp experience. Fishing, canoeing, kayaking and aquatic nature activities are favorites among our campers. Our struggle with duckweed and watermeal not only endangered our aquatic life, but also jeopardized our camper’s ability to fully experience the pond. With so many of our campers coming from urban areas, the exposure to a natural body of water with safe access is rare. During our recent Master Planning process, the pond was identified as a MAJOR site feature and thus in need of protection and conservation. We are deeply thankful for the commitment and vigilance of SOLitude Lake Management, SePRO and related vendors in bringing back a healthy pond and helping to maintain this important natural and programmatic feature to our Camp program.
Executive Director & Chair, ACA Virginias, Charlottesville, VA, March 22, 2016
The condition of our lake and the surrounding buffer area have improved significantly after just one year working with SOLitude. We received many compliments from homeowners this year on how the lake has looked. As our community’s liaison with them, I appreciate their responsiveness to my inquiries and requests for meetings, and the monthly updates after their on-site visits are very informative. Starting with our initial meetings with John Phelps to the routine interactions with Wes Allen and Greg Blackham, it’s been a pleasure working with them.
Chairman, Environmental Committee, Rehoboth Beach, DE, February 19, 2016
Our lake, Sunset Lake in Chatham, had been in decline for many years when my wife and I moved in three years ago. The algae cover was so widespread that enjoying the lake in warm months was virtually impossible. John Phelps, Gavin Ferris and the SOLitude team devised a reasonable plan that fit our budget and we've seen a dramatic turnaround in our very first season with SOLitude. The team has been responsive, timely and reliable. Our view is much better for it!
Community Resident, Chatham, NJ, October 26, 2015
SOLitude is a great company to work with and having access to its staff and experience is very much appreciated. SOLitude’s service is reliable and responses are prompt. The team is great – from the front office to the field crew, everyone is experienced and very willing to work with clients.

SOLitude technicians are really good at what they do. We have had some algae problems this summer with all the heat, but SOLitude has been more than willing to make additional visits to address and solve the problems. They solved the algae problems after only two additional treatments and we haven’t had a problem since. I highly recommend SOLitude Lake Management for all your pond needs!
Kevin M. Summerlin
Facilities Manager, Virginia Beach, VA, September 17, 2015
SOLitude’s level of service has provided the association’s with whom I work a hassle free way to keep their ponds healthy and looking great. The customer service from the technicians is far above par, and I never have to wonder if inspections are being completed. Reports are sent to our office in a timely manner, and I receive follow up emails from the techs that report special conditions or recommended treatments. If every contractor delivered the excellent service offered by SOLitude, association and property managers’ jobs would be much easier.

Our job involved restoration of an existing stream and wetland area. It involved creating stone and log check dams along the stream and removing invasive plants and weeds and planting of native plants along the stream and wetland area. This is an ongoing five year phased project. John Phelps took command and has completely revitalized the entire area. His expertise has been demonstrated by the fact that everything appears like it’s always been there. He has taken the time to walk me and our inspectors through the site and explained each and every facet of planting, what they do, and what they will do when matured. It has been a pleasure to work with John as we enter the final phase of the project.

As Superintendent of Land Development for a large community near the Delaware shore, I have worked closely with SOLitude Lake Management in an effort to beautify and enrich the wetland areas of our project. SOLitude provided invaluable assistance and was instrumental in enhancing the appearance of our entire development. When a fountain malfunctioned, Greg Blackham went the extra mile and came immediately to the project, where he resolved what turned out to be an electrical issue. The professionalism and knowledge of all members of SOLitude Lake Management that I have dealt is unparalleled! I would certainly recommend them to anyone!

All our services from David Beasley and SOLitude staff have been absolutely great. Good communication, phone calls are prompt, and their knowledge is great. It was really fantastic that David Beasley could make the time to personally visit with my son to discuss his new lake. I insisted nobody else would do and gave this conference to my son for his birthday. You can't beat that for personal service. Thanks so much!

Working with the team from SOLitude Lake Management took away the pressure of dealing with an issue [invasive Phragmites removal] that I had never specialized in. The knowledge of everyone involved helped keep the process moving, from engineering to local code compliance. They knew the course that needed to be taken and it was implemented in a timely manner, causing the project to come to completion well within our expectations.

SOLitude Lake Management has consistently performed to a high standard within the three communities they currently service for my clients. Whether it is routine maintenance or a major issue, I can always be assured that when I call or email we will have almost immediate communication and actionable timelines. I am particularly impressed with Brent Weber, the Environmental Scientist that is routinely assigned to my properties. He consistently keeps me informed and up-to-date on the status of new issues and general or routine upkeep. Thanks to the quality service of Aquatic Specialist, Doug Hawpe, our pond has been algae-free and gleaming for years. We can’t say enough about the excellent service he provides, which, to our delight, also includes monthly pond maintenance reports. Not only is he committed to his craft and the environment, he is also super nice. In fact, I can say that about ALL the folks at SOLitude Lake Management. To that end, I enthusiastically recommend SOLitude’s expertise for your pond and aquatic requirements.

We are so grateful for the professional lake management services of SOLitude. For years my husband and I struggled, with little success, to keep the water of our pond clear and our ecosystem healthy. It was a stressful and backbreaking job. Enter SOLitude. Now our water sparkles, the fish and turtles are thriving, our fountain looks great, and my husband and I can direct our energy to other, more enjoyable projects. We appreciate the great customer service and regular service reports. Thank you SOLitude!

I take care of the grounds for a large farm with a two acre lake in eastern Davidson County, NC. The lake is in a prominent place in front of the main house and the front drive winds around it. Sometimes the stream that feeds the lake dries up during a drought. Since we use it for some of our irrigation, it can get pretty low and stagnant. We had been having trouble with it for years. Then three or four years ago the oxygen level got so low we had a massive fish kill. The men who cleaned it up stopped counting at 300 fish. Then came the watermeal infestation; the entire lake was emerald green, covered by a disgusting thick mat of green granular stuff.
I was trying to find someone to work on it and I heard about SOLitude Lake management. After they got the watermeal under control they installed aerators, which have made all the difference. SOLitude comes by once a month or so and check things out and treat the lake as needed. We have no more trouble with it and it looks beautiful all the time!
The owners and I are very happy we found SOLitude and would recommend them!

We chose SOLitude after a number of years battling weed and algae issues in two of the ponds on our property. Both ponds are a challenge due to their shallow nature and sediment load they receive. Since SOLitude has taken over management of these two ponds algae and aquatic weeds are no longer a problem for us. Along with being very effective, SOLitude is also very professional. Everyone we have interacted with at SOLitude has been a pleasure to deal with. I highly recommend SOLitude to anyone that asks.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank SOLitude for everything that you do. I have been working with you all for a few years now and it has been a pleasure. David Riedl has been a great addition and has always been responsive and informative for my Loudoun communities and Shannon Junior is always awesome and helpful even when I bug her with random questions. I look forward to working with SOLitude for years to come.

I've been quite happy with the care our pond got this past year - it was a HUGE improvement over 2013. Part of that was because I adopted SOLitude's recommendations for installing aeration and having an annual application of Phoslock. Together with your ongoing algae control program, we didn't have a single camper complaining about the pond this year, compared with a stream of complaints the previous year about the smell and the appearance of all that green scum. And it's not just the verbal feedback that has made us happy: the number of people fishing the pond mushroomed this past summer, making this one of our top amenities.

Time and time again SOLitude has proven to me that they are a good company to work with. They make me more knowledgeable every time I call, and their updates are very helpful with communicating to my Boards. They are definitely on my preferred vendor list.

I wanted to take a few minutes to recognize Wes Allen’s expertise and knowledge on correcting our problems with algae in our fire water supply pond. As a large chemical company it is crucial to have a large supply of clean fire water to supply our site. When Wes came to our site we had large amounts of algae which could have hampered our ability to draw water from the pond, within a month the results were impressive. After the addition of the aeration system and monthly treatments it does not even look like the same pond. Great work Wes and SOLitude! I am looking forward to a long relationship between SOLitude and Eastman Chemical Corporation.

Ever since we began using SOLitude Lake Management to address our algae and aquatic weed issues here at The Dominion Club, our pond health and aesthetics have improved significantly as our weed and algae populations were reduced and controlled. SOLitude Lake Management provided excellent service and results. I highly recommend SOLitude Lake Management and will continue to use their services.

As I prepare to retire, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank Donna Knemeyer, Ellen Stace and the entire staff at SOLitude Lake Management for the excellent service you all have provided for the past several years. When I first arrived here in 2006 the pond service was very disappointing with the contractor we had at the time. Switching to SOLitude was an immediate improvement and throughout the years SOLitude has maintained a very high level of service. Whenever we needed something extra we got it without any hesitation. It has been my pleasure to have worked with the staff at SOLitude and I wish you continued success.

Burbage Grant Owners Association and SOLitude Lake Management entered into a contract in September 2010 and never looked back. Scope of work began with two ponds and a lake. Since that time Solitude's contracted work includes five other BMP's that had to be brought into compliance as directed by the City of Suffolk.
As a manager of an HOA with 1444 homes, contracts for the community that operate on auto pilot are most welcomed. SOLlitude Lake Management is the most professional, detail oriented, report conscious, stop by and let you know what they are doing on your property contractor I have.
A special thanks to SOLitude for a job well done.

Once upon a time we had a lovely 1 acre pond where people gathered to fish, walk, and enjoy the view. In the spring of 2011, the county retro fitted all the pipes for our stormwater management pond and ours was transferred to a very large mud puddle. The spring fed pond now had a depth of 6 feet with a wide walking rim around it.
Three aerators to oxygenate the water were installed but it was clear this wasn’t sufficient to correct the mounting algae and aquatic weed problems. SOLitude Lake Management was called because we recognized as a stormwater management site we had many problems that we were unable to diagnose or treat. We have found that our communication and SOLitude’s response to our concerns have been swift and done in a very timely manner.
Gavin Ferris has been extremely thorough and notifies me whenever a visit is to occur. He has involved the association with detailed emails to keep us abreast of the issues that our pond is incurring. This seems to occur after heavy rainfall, hot humid days with little breeze, changing color of the water and the emergence of aquatic weed and algae growth, which sometimes alarms some of the homeowners that live near the pond. He provides information and knowledge at the highest level, exhibiting a love of what he does. Our conversations are helpful and enable me to keep a site on Facebook which explains to the neighborhood what is occurring on and in the pond. Homeowners express their concerns and Gavin gives me the information to assuage their concerns. Our pond is still young and in a flux but we feel that SOLitude has given us a positive direction to create The Comeback Pond.
Homeowner & Pond Committee Coordinator, Marriottsville, MD, August 6, 2014
When one of our BMPs was overtaken by phragmites, we called SOLitude for treatment. From the bidding process to the follow-up, the service we received was top notch. Jessica Mueller was very thorough in explaining how the treatment would work and the follow up that would be needed. Kyle Finerfrock performed the treatment quickly and completely. He was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions. He even came back two weeks after the initial treatment to make sure he did not miss any areas. A year later, the Phragmites has still not returned. Considering how invasive this species is, this is quite an accomplishment.

Greg Blackham is a pleasure to work with! His knowledge and great service make my job so much easier. Thank you so much for all you do for the communities I manage. I can always count on Greg and John Phelps for their expert advice, willingness to go the extra mile and save my communities money with their best interest in the forefront. I hope to get SOLitude into more communities and have passed your information along to my colleagues with glowing recommendations.

I have two properties now with SOLitude and the responses from the Board and Owners has been very good. I have met numerous times with John Phelps and Greg Blackham and have been educated on several things, which I could then comfortably discuss with my Boards. SOLitude is a very experienced company with well-qualified people and I look forward to working with them in the future.

John Phelps is a pleasure to work with. When my clients need a service that I don’t offer, I never hesitate to call John Phelps of SOLitude Lake Management. I will continue to coordinate with SOLitude and John in order to grow both of our businesses.

Monthly management of our pond has been great. We had to have major repairs done as a result of storm damage to the riser pipe, as well as the need to have a portion of the pond dredged. Overall, the SOLitude staff was and continues to be great to work with and I have renewed our pond management contract for another year.

Turnover from Declarant to Homeowner control in a Common Interest Community can be a very challenging time for an Association Manager. New Board members are typically very anxious to get the amenities of the community the way they would like them and when you add in general maintenance on top of improvement activities, things can get complex quickly. This was very much the case recently at First Watch at River Pointe as the condominium's BMP and water feature was less than well-kept while the Declarant retained control of their maintenance programs.
When approached to take on the challenge of getting things up to speed with the facilities, SOLitude was able to be the one-stop shop that addressed all the outstanding issues or found help where they could not. I would like to thank Kim Niesel and her team for the assistance during this time and I anticipate that we will be able to maintain the current condition of the pond and water feature for many years to come.

Dunes West currently has 70 ponds and SOLitude was asked to remark on each pond based on 7 attributes. They were on the property for 5 days in December and were able to complete a very comprehensive study to send to the Board for their review by the first of February, which the Board considered a timely turnaround. In addition to the study, which has been invaluable as we map the way forward with our pond maintenance and funding for that, SOLitude (Brad Harris, et al) has made several presentations to the Dunes West Board which has allowed us to ask questions and further clarify some of the findings of the study.
The Dunes West Association not only got great technical information, but we also have formed a relationship that will help going forward as we plan for our pond management. The overall feeling of the Board is that SOLitude Lake Management is a professional company that brings experience and technology to the table.

We have been customers of SOLitude Lake Management for over seven years. Gavin Ferris has been taking care of our pond for at least three years. We have been very pleased with the level and quality of service and are happy to be a reference for SOLitude.
Our pond is a little over a ¼ acre and is fed by an underground stream. We had significant issues with pond algae and weeds, which led us to consult professionals. Since getting SOLitude involved, the algae and weeds have been under control, the fish are doing fine, and all ordinary repairs to the fountain have been handled well. We are able to enjoy the pond without worrying about it.
Private Landowner, Potomac, MD, April 3, 2014
We used to struggle with many different issues in Freeman Pond on holes 15,16,17 at the Sedgefield Country Club. It was not uncommon for us to see algae blooms appear out of nowhere along one of the most important focal points of the course. Since Brad Harris and SOLitude Lake Management have been taking care of the pond for us, we have had very little issues with the aesthetic qualities of our pond. SOLitude has taken a huge burden off of my shoulders and now I don’t even have to worry about the appearance of our pond.
Golf Course Superintendent, Greensboro, NC, March 14, 2014
My name is Aaron Tenley and I am the supervisor of the Leisure World of Maryland grounds department. We have 5 water features on the property and before SOLitude Lake Management came, our ponds were full of algae and aquatic weeds, looking very unhealthy. In the past 7 years, SOLitude has cleaned out our ponds and got them back into shape making them look like amazing water features as they should be.
Gavin Ferris is our pond guy and makes us feel very comfortable with what he does. He calls when he comes in and tells us what he is doing and explains if we have any problems with our water features. Customer service is another great thing about SOLitude; they are always willing to help if you have any questions or concerns. All in all, I would recommend SOLitude Lake Management to anyone looking to get their water features back into healthy shape for their residents and the environment.
Supervisor, Silver Spring, MD, March 7, 2014
We’ve been working with SOLitude Lake Management since 2009 when an aggressive aquatic weed was becoming a problem and taking over our pond. The staff of SOLitude Lake Management identified the weed and treated the pond promptly with much success.
Since that time, our ponds have been monitored monthly by their competent staff and precautions have been taken so that the pond weeds do not get out of control. We are pleased with the quality of service and their effort to work with us towards an organic approach to keeping our ponds healthy.

With HOA's, the volunteer boards' tasks do not always match their expertise. We were presented with the challenge of dealing with our stormwater basin, which is regulated by EPA standards that we were not familiar with. We recognized that it could cost us all a lot of money if the issues were not addressed appropriately.
SOLitude came in and guided us through the entire process. John Phelps presented us with economical solutions and really listened to us and worked with us. John even took the time to attend a homeowner meeting to answer all of the questions we had lined up for him. He put everyone's mind at ease. Our basin went from an eye sore to a spectacular main selling point for our community. We are in good hands with SOLitude and cannot thank them enough!

Thank you for coordinating the restoration effort for our pond and donating labor for the aerator installation and watermeal treatment. This will ensure that hundreds of kids with special medical needs, and those who have the honor, joy and inspiration of working with them, will benefit from the Camp Holiday Trails experience this year.
Shannon, you are a hero to us. Thank you for helping us take steps to improve our pond health!

I was recently elected as the Landscape Chair on our HOA board and was suddenly thrust into unknown territory – Pond Management. Fortunately for me, and for our community, Brad Harris was the Service Agent with SOLitude Lake Management. I met with Brad early on and was delighted to learn an immense amount of pond management and problem solving from him. Brad is an active manager and keeps us informed of our pond's health and works with us to find solutions to our pond's needs.
Being on an HOA Board can be stressful and time consuming; but with Brad on our team, I never have to worry about caring for our Pond, which is the beautiful focal point of our neighborhood. Brad's got us covered. All we have to do is enjoy the scenery!

Hi John, It was good seeing you on Saturday. Your presentation was excellent. I am so impressed with your knowledge about ponds, swales and buffer zones. We so appreciate your time with us and for all the information you have secured about our "gem." The community was likewise impressed and pleased.

Thanks for the nice follow up card. It's very nice to see some people still take the time to write and mail hand written notes.
I should have mentioned this sooner, but Shannon Junior did a terrific job. She was impressive. She spoke intelligently about what she was seeing, but didn't "guess" at possible solutions. She seemed to have a solid grasp of the situation, but was not pushy when it came to obtaining a decision from the customer, which increased her credibility with them.
All in all, I'd say she hit a home run.
Whenever I'm dealing with contractors and vendors regarding the needs of our customers, I always look for those that want to create win-win situations. That's how you build long-term relationships. Shannon seems to "get it".
Well done and thanks again for the note.

Greg and John,
I just want to let you guys know that it has been a pleasure working with the both of you in dealing with our storm water ponds and swale. Any time we have had to have work done, or had a question about normal maintenance, you guys have had the time for us. We are very pleased with how our ponds look and appreciate the effort that goes into keeping them looking that way. I know sometimes people only hear when there is a problem, but I wanted to let you know we as a board and community appreciate your expertise, professionalism and knowledge.
Thanks, Mike Coumatos

I just want to give Kudos to the fountain people. When they were putting our fountain in on Hole #12, I ran out and asked the gentleman, from across the pond, if he could move it more towards the middle since I can't see the fountain anymore from my breakfast nook like I could before. He tried to explain but I couldn't hear and just went back into my house. He took the time to figure out what house I was in and came to the front door, rang the bell and explained that the cable had been cut by the lawn mower awhile back so they can no longer put the fountain in the middle, the cable is just too short....and they are very expensive to replace. I thanked him for coming to my front door and explaining the situation. He said he would let you know to put a longer cable on the wish list :) I love our fountains and am sorry we can't see it from our house anymore but I do understand. If they could ever switch it out for a longer cable, that would be terrific. But, I thought the young gentleman went above and beyond the call of duty to explain the situation and wanted to let you know.

I personally contacted and met with several companies to discuss issues and infractions regarding our pond. After meeting with your Environmental Scientist, John Phelps, I together with our board president decided to retain your company to address the issues that were highlighted by NCC. John was very concise and informative in describing the issues and solution to each. He has a very courteous approach in talking with potential clients and his dialogue is as such that a lay person can walk away from a discussion with him with a clear understanding of what is needed to properly address issues concerning the ponds. He is very prompt in attending personal meetings regarding the issues and patient with the layperson's questions and concerns. The quality of contracted work was not only timely and professional but far exceeded the expectations of our board. I have had numerous e-mail correspondences with John and each email was answered in a timely manner.
I have a lengthy background in management in the Oil & Chemical industry and John is the type of person that we pursued in our Environmental Engineering group.

John Phelps has been working with me as the Sunset Meadows Maintenance Organization President to help us maintain our water run off pond for the past 2 years. The company has helped us establish a baseline of what we will need to do annually to keep the pond up to the county and our own expectations. The pond has just gotten to a maturity level where some regular care is needed that we may not have needed before. I don't have any experience with ponds, and John was a big help in pointing us in the right direction and helping us to establish a good foundation. He worked with us to develop a program that fit the needs of our community. Our development was not in need of a very aggressive program like some of the other companies were trying to sell us. That was important to me. John always did what he said he would do, that is also important to me.

Berkeley Realty Property Management works with some fifty communities in the James City County and Williamsburg area. Many of these communities have ponds or lakes for which the community is responsible. SOLitude Lake Management has been providing aquatic management services for a number of these communities and has done a commendable job through the years. Kevin Tucker and his staff have consistently demonstrated a clear understanding of the importance of properly maintained lakes and ponds. SOLitude Lake Management provides periodic preventative maintenance for both the water within the ponds and also the mechanical components as well.
I have personally worked with the staff at SOLitude Lake Management since 2003 and have been very impressed with the service they have provided over the years; from the field crews to the office support staff. SOLitude is very active in the community association industry and has often participated in workshops and seminars to help keep their clients better informed and to equip them with the tools they need to make decisions that will benefit their communities.
I would recommend SOLitude Lake Management to any community or property that is looking for a reliable, knowledgeable, and experienced company to assist with pond or lake maintenance services.

You know I am very happy with SOLitude and that I speak your praises when (and sometimes not!) asked, but I felt this particular situation was a just a little better than the rest….
Ellen Stace is just fantastic and I can't say that enough. She's always great, always quick to respond, always informative, but now she's just over-the-top great!!! Late this afternoon I emailed and asked if someone could reset the timer on the Willow Lakes fountain as it's not coming on until a few hours after dark. Her response is below….she didn't really have anyone in the area but has offered to take a look herself. Talk about full-service!!! It's a few days before Christmas and I know that everyone is busy and there is tons of last minute things to get accomplished for your clients (who I am sure want everything done, and done before the Holiday!). This attention from your staff just shows how much you all care about your clients, and about your managers.
Any time you need a letter of recommendation, etc. I am here and waiting to oblige. Thank you all for all that you do! Merry Christmas! I've copied Ellen on this email as I think she so deserves to hear the positive feedback that I've got to offer.

To Whom It May Concern:
It is my pleasure to recommend SOLitude Lake Management Company to anyone with lake, pond, or BMP management needs.
Not only have we been using them for several years to manage and maintain our lakes, ponds, and fountains, but we have also used their services for algae and weed control. Their expertise, problem solving ability, and willingness to help have been invaluable. Kevin Tucker and his staff have been outstanding and I thoroughly enjoy working with them.

Working with SOLitude Lake Management has been a pleasure. The staff is extremely responsive and is excellent at serving the client. A recent experience has proven to me the value not only of the service they provide, but proved to me the company cares for the clients they serve. We had experienced horrible shipping delays and other issues with a pump that was out for repair – most of the problem being with shipping from the factory repairing the pump. Following many issues the idea was given to the Association to upgrade the fountain just a slight bit early (especially due to the recent failures) with an different brand fountain. The spray pattern was much prettier, but that was just aesthetics. SOLitude installed the new fountain, and any other that year that the Association wished to replace, for no labor cost at all. They did this because the Association was sure to see further failures and this was the best way to service their client.
I receive feedback regularly about contractors inside the Associations that I manage. Rarely is it neutral, and very rarely is it positive as most don't take the time to give those much needed and deserved "kudos!" I did, in the past month, receive a response to a rather large repair estimate from a committee chairperson in a community with not one, but FIVE lakes that SOLitude expertly maintains.
The Committee Chairperson said, "Our community has worked with Kevin Tucker and VLM since before I moved in around 1999. They have always provided good service and advice. Understand the name has changed from VA. Lake Management to SOLitude Lake Management but the people appear to still be the same team so I would respect their advice."

Dear Kevin and Randy,
I wanted to send you a note to thank you for the services you have provided thus far to my company. I have been very impressed. Specifically, I have to compliment Greg, who has been the face of your company at Canal Corkran and Cape Shores, where the owners see and interact with him on a regular basis. They are truly impressed with his knowledge, his timely response to even the smallest of problems and most of all his pleasant personality. We don't feel like he's trying to sell us anything, which is a welcomed change from what we have unfortunately become accustomed to…not sure you guys will appreciate that from the business end!!! Just kidding, of course. But he has solved our problems, listened to our concerns and acted professionally in every aspect of the word. He is an asset to your company and you should be very happy to have him represent you here in Delaware!!!
