Volunteer of the Quarter Helps Her Local Environment
Through SOLitude’s corporate volunteering and community outreach program, The SOLution, company leaders have named Aquatic Biologist Samantha Corbin, the Volunteer of the Quarter for the fourth quarter of 2021. As an active member of The SOLution program, Samantha has dedicated more than 40 hours volunteering with the Newton Conservators in Newton, MA.
Volunteering Her Time Conserving Natural Areas
During her time volunteering with the organization, Samantha has removed invasive species, helped plan events, and shared her expertise on nature walks. The Newton Conservators promote the protection and preservation of natural areas, including parks, parklands, playgrounds, forests and streams, which are open spaces for the enjoyment and benefit of the people of Newton for scientific study, education, and recreation.
A Passion for the Environment
“Samantha loves the outdoors and has a passion for the environment. She wants people to be inspired to be outside and use our parks and recreation areas so they may appreciate our open spaces and not be so quick to turn them into another parking lot,” said New England District Manager Rob Meyer. “Samantha enjoys sharing her knowledge of both terrestrial and aquatic plants on the Newton Conservators nature tour walk series or the Paddle Boston Charles River Tour. She removes invasive plants wherever she sees them – including in the garden next to the Shrewsbury office’s front door. Samantha brings a fresh and positive spirit to our team!”
