Bill Kurth, a Regional Director in Florida, has more than 34 years of extensive experience in lake, pond and wetland management. Bill specializes in providing innovative treatment solutions for clients using new products and technologies, and has managed waterbodies for many of his local community associations and clients for 25 years or more.
Bill attended Tallahassee Community College and Florida State University, where he earned a degree in Business Management. He began his industry career as an aquatic applicator with a Florida-based aquatics company, where he quickly became responsible for the technical training of all new employees, and was promoted to the position of Branch Manager of the company's Ft. Myers branch within 4 years. Bill then moved to Cape Coral Florida in 1987, where his expertise in herbicide technology and ability to sell and manage while also performing aquatic applications allowed Bill to grow his branch by 400% in 8 years. In 1999, Bill moved on to the then newly-formed Lake Masters Aquatic Weed Control, where he served in many roles, including Branch Manager, Director of Operations and Vice President of Operations. Under his leadership, Lake Masters became one of the premier lake management companies in Florida before merging with SOLitude in 2018.
Bill is a multi-year board member for the Florida Aquatic Plant Management Society (FAPMS) and has served as a member of the North American Lake Management Society. He has presented at FAPMS on Control of Exotic Melaleuca Trees, and Recognition and Control of Golden Algae; at the UF/IFAS Aquatic Weed Control Short Course on the control of exotic species in Wetlands; at NALMS on Aquatic Weed Control in Florida; and has spoken at SePro Annual Business Conference on the use of Sonar herbicide in irrigation and other lakes, and on the efficacy of Captain XTR algaecide. He served on the Advisory board for SePRO, and has won awards for Best Management Practices, Sustainability, and Applicator of the Year in 2007. Bill was also named Outstanding Business Partner by the Bonita Bay Group and is a certified erosion and illicit discharge inspector.
Bill’s love of the outdoors is evident through his many hobbies, which include boating, fishing, diving, and travel. He also has a passion for cooking and gardening, and has been heavily involved with aquarium-keeping for most of his life, including live reef aquariums with living coral. Bill was an active little league coach for nine years as his boys, William and Alex, were growing up. Today, he and his wife, Carolyn, reside in Cape Coral, FL. They recently became grandparents and love to spend as much time as possible with family.
Regional Sales Manager
Josh McGarry is a Regional Sales Manager who helps oversee business development efforts across SOLitude’s Sarasota and Sun City territories. He enjoys helping and educating clients, developing his team, and speaking at industry conferences. He is passionate about supporting his colleagues and being a good steward to the environment by restoring wetlands and waterways to a natural and healthy state.
Josh earned a Master Naturalist Certification from the University of Florida, and holds a Florida Green Best Management Practices certificate. He has more than 10 years of experience working with SOLitude.
Josh was born-and-raised in Aurora, NY, in the Finger Lakes region.
Senior Business Development Consultant
Jeff Moding is a Senior Business Development Consultant with more than 30 years of industry experience. Jeff has an extensive background in the management of lakes, ponds and wetlands, and specializes in aeration solutions and invasive species eradication.
Invaluable on-the-job experiences have allowed Jeff to play an integral role on thousands of aquatics projects. Jeff helps clients identify aquatic plant and algae species found on their properties and helps them develop sustainable management plans that encourage a healthy ecosystem.
Prior to joining the SOLitude team in 2009, Jeff worked in sales, where he grew his division from 2 to 30 employees and developed his expertise in foundation and aeration products.
Jeff is a United States Airforce Veteran. Outside of work, Jeff is an avid bow hunter and fisherman. He also enjoys playing golf and tennis, and spending time with his family.
General Manager, Shoreline Restoration
Robbin Huffines is a General Manager who oversees large regional projects and coordinates with local teams to ensure environmental work is completed efficiently. Robbin has a particular expertise in erosion control technologies for aging shorelines. He enjoys brainstorming custom solutions for each property and guiding clients through the restoration process.
Robbin has a degree from Florida Southwestern University. He is a member on the Board of Directors of the Florida Lake Management Society and is a regular guest speaker on Sandcastle Radio where he discusses all topics relating to lake and pond management.
Robbin was born-and-raised in Ft. Myers, FL. Before joining the SOLitude team, he worked in landscape design and marine research.
Jim Dougherty has more than 20 years of experience working in the lake, pond and wetland management industry. He helps lead SOLitude’s largest Florida office, where he directly oversees a staff of nearly two dozen aquatic specialists and technicians. Jim also serves as the first point of contact for many clients, providing ongoing education and helping them develop personalized sustainable management plans for their aquatic properties.
In his spare time, Jim enjoys fishing, biking, and spending time with his family and two dogs.
Assistant District Manager
Kevin Klukowski is an Assistant District Manager with nearly 20 years of experience working in the lake, pond and wetland management industry. Kevin focuses on managing more than 300 client relationships of all types – from single residential ponds to large, multimillion-dollar golf course communities.
Kevin serves as a leader for the 15 applicators based in his region. His knowledge of Florida lakes has allowed him to educate new hires, community managers and residents on the importance of maintaining a healthy waterbody, and the strategies needed to achieve that goal.
Kevin credits his passion for the environment to the experiences he had in childhood, during which he grew up on the Myakka River near the Gulf of Mexico in the small town of Englewood, FL. Outside of work, Kevin enjoys spending time with his wife, friends and dogs, traveling, being outdoors, and helping his wife manage their small business.
Mason Maher is an Environmental Scientist and Service Manager who helps lead SOLitude’s local team of aquatic management professionals. He enjoys educating clients about environmental protection practices and sparking people’s interest so they can strive to protect their water resources.
Mason grew up in Cuyahoga County in Cleveland, OH. He moved to Florida to attend Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies.
Sean Goorsky is a Project Manager who leads erosion control and shoreline management efforts out of SOLitude’s Fort Myers office. He ensures projects are completed successfully and the expectations of our clients are exceeded. He helps lead his team by coordinating the delivery of necessary equipment and materials and managing project timelines. He enjoys guiding shoreline revitalization efforts from start to finish.
Prior to joining the SOLitude team, Sean was a golf course superintendent for eight years and spent more than a decade developing sites as a business owner, golf course construction superintendent, and heavy equipment operator. Sean also gained experience maintaining fountain and submersed aeration equipment while working for two years with a leading aeration manufacturer.
Outside of work, Sean enjoys spending time with his wife, Jessica, and daughter, Jade. They enjoy boating, fishing and playing golf together.
Christina Kennedy is an Account Representative and Aquatic Biologist who works regularly with clients to help them develop custom management plans for their waterbodies. She firmly believes that addressing the root of lake and pond problems is far better and more cost-effective than masking the symptoms.
Christina earned her Bachelor’s degree in Zoology with concentrations in Marine Biology and Marine Ecosystem Management from Michigan State University.
Ean Sim is an Aquatic Biologist who helps clients identify and achieve their waterbody goals. He specializes in implementing sustainable solutions that prioritize the health and beauty of the natural environment. His ability to help clients understand the science behind what we do helps them make better decisions with confidence
Ean graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology.
Garrett Farmer is an Environmental Scientist who specializes in maintaining the health and balance of aquatic ecosystems. He utilizes sustainable tools and best practices to manage invasive species and nuisance algae in lakes, ponds and wetlands. He is a knowledgeable resource and stays in regular contact with clients regarding the progress of their environmental projects.
Garrett earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Studies from Florida Gulf Coast University. He joined the SOLitude team in January 2019.
In his spare time, Garrett is an avid fisherman and golfer. He enjoys archery and other shooting sports. He spends as much time as possible outdoors and around the water.
Assistant Project Manager
Kris is an Assistant Project Manager with almost 20 years of experience bringing sustainable aquatic solutions to agricultural, commercial and preserve clients throughout Florida. Kris has extensive knowledge of ecologically-responsible lake, pond and wetland management strategies and regularly provides mitigation and upland services focused on improving both the health and beauty of the surrounding ecosystem.
Kris spends his free time hunting, shooting and fishing in bass tournaments. He and his wife raise cattle and have four rescue bunnies. They enjoy volunteering their time with the Southwestern Florida Rabbit Rescue and being with family.
Robert Ostrowski is an Aquatic Scientist and Commercial Aquatic Herbicide Applicator with more than a decade of experience providing lake and pond management services. He specializes in plant identification and sustainable treatment strategies. His background in Environmental Studies and many years of experience are invaluable to clients in the development of management plans for their waterbodies, and Robert is a valuable source of aquatics knowledge for both clients and industry peers.
Robert enjoys spending his spare time kayaking, hiking, biking and completing home improvement projects. He is a classic movie buff, church-goer and loves spending time with his family. He has five adult children, two grandchildren and a wife of 34 years.
Shawn Dever is an Aquatic Specialist with nearly two decades of experience managing lakes, ponds, wetlands and preserve areas in communities throughout southwest Florida. Shawn is accomplished in aquatic plant identification, and specializes in exotic and invasive plant removal. His extensive industry background and broad scope of experience make him a valuable resource for clients, and Shawn regularly helps associations and homeowners develop and exceed their long-term waterbody goals.
Shawn spends much of his spare time fishing, hunting and watching Florida State University sports with his family.
Gerardo Garcia is an Equipment Manager with nearly 15 years of experience managing lakes, ponds and wetlands in the state of Florida. Gerardo focuses on providing ecologically-responsible solutions for problems related to water quality, nuisance algae, aquatic weeds and nutrient loading. Gerardo has been a member of the SOLitude team since 2008, and brought with him four and a half years of prior experience maintaining the natural health of Florida’s preserves.
Growing up, Gerardo worked alongside his father at his harvesting company, and credits the experience for teaching him about the importance of responsibility and hard work to achieve what you want in life.
Gerardo spends much of his free time with friends and family, cooking out, mudding and traveling as much as possible.
Chris Hobbic is an Aquatic Specialist with nearly 15 years of industry experience. He has served lake, pond and preserve management clients since 2004 and regularly provides sustainable solutions for water quality problems throughout the Ft. Myers, FL, region.
Chris has worked on many unique industry projects throughout his career, including an Everglades restoration initiative for the state of Florida. Prior to joining SOLitude, he managed his own business and cultivated valuable operations and management experience that have allowed him to excel on the SOLitude team.
Chris is an avid fan of the NHL, specifically the Blackhawks. Outside of work, he enjoys fishing, canoeing and spending time with family.
Bryan Lewis is an Aquatic Specialist with more than a decade of experience providing lake and pond management solutions. Bryan specializes in delivering comprehensive algae and aquatic weed services to clients throughout Fort Myers and the surrounding Florida region. Bryan has served as a professionally-trained aquatic technician for more than 18 years and has experience with aerography and oceanography.
Outside of work, Bryan likes to spend his time boating, fishing, and enjoying the beach. He’s an avid Miami Dolphins football fan and loves hanging out with his wife, daughter and family. He also trains as a volunteer firefighter.
Ronald Osborn is an Aquatic Specialist who has served clients in the Fort Myers region since 2014. Ronald delivers environmentally friendly aquatic algae and weed control solutions to clients, and ensures that their long-term lake and pond goals are exceeded.
In his free time, Ronald likes to hunt, fish, wrestle, race RC cars. He also strives to spend as much time as possible with his family.
James Billings is an Aquatic Specialist focused on managing lakes and ponds in and around Ft. Myers, FL. He regularly provides sustainable solutions to aquatic weed and algae problems and helps clients achieve their long-term waterbody goals. James is a licensed Aquatic Weed Control Applicator and is certified by the City of Cape Coral Emergency Operations Center in Emergency Response.
James has a diverse educational background focused on the arts, and has spearheaded projects that merge his passion for the arts with the environment. While earning his bachelor’s degree at the University of South Florida, James was awarded grants and a scholarship in undergraduate research for creating a green energy kiln that utilized a bio-diesel fuel source.
Outside of work, James enjoys community outreach, including artistic community projects with local students and feeding the homeless through church volunteering opportunities. He also likes to watch movies, cook with his wife and hang out with his kids.
Ryan Proud is an Aquatic Specialist with more than a decade of experience providing sustainable lake and pond management solutions to clients throughout the Fort Myers, FL, region. Ryan is a licensed Aquatic Applicator who specializes in treating nuisance and invasive aquatic weeds and algae, and enhancing the beauty and health of Florida’s aquatic ecosystems.
Before joining the SOLitude team, Ryan studied automotive technology and worked as a tech for a leading vehicle manufacturer for 5 years. He has an Automotive Service Excellence certification as well as his SCCA Motorsports license.
In his free time, Ryan enjoys modifying cars and going to the racetrack, playing games and hanging out at the beach or by the pool.
Volunteer Team Captain
Jim Sheeran is an Aquatic Specialist with more than a decade of experience in the aquatic weed management industry. He works with golf courses, homeowners associations and private landowners to cultivate lakes, ponds and wetlands that meet their aesthetic, ecological and budgetary goals.
Jim is passionate about the protection of aquatic resources and dedicated to fostering strong client relationships based on knowledge and communication. Prior to joining SOLitude, he gained extensive industry experience working with various weed control companies throughout Southwest Florida. Jim’s career experience also extends to the restaurant industry, where he worked for 10 years.
Jim enjoys spending time with his young daughter, Chaselyn. In addition to painting and paddle boarding in his spare time, he listens to music and plays bass guitar. Jim is also an experienced snowboarder and served as an instructor in Vermont for three years. Jim’s interests also include volunteering and ministry work with The Salvation Army, for which he serves as a Salvation Army Adherent Soldier. He attends regular Sunday services with the organization and enjoys helping others.
Jay Gurule is an Aquatic Specialist who specializes in improving the health and appearance of freshwater ecosystems throughout Florida. He is knowledgeable about safe, sustainable aquatic plant management and has a particular interest in exotic plant identification.
Jay attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA on a music scholarship. Prior to joining the SOLitude team, he owned and operated a landscaping business, giving him unique and valuable experience with horticulture.
In his free time, Jay can be found tending to his butterfly garden, fishing and enjoying the outdoors. He’s a music enthusiast and plays the guitar, drums and mandolin. He also enjoys painting abstract art and reading books about WW2.
John Guffey is an Aquatic Specialist with more than 30 years of experience in the aquatic management industry. He joined SOLitude’s Fort Myers team in November 2018 to help clients enhance the health, aesthetics, and functionality of their water resources.
In addition to his direct knowledge and experience in aquatics and wetland management, John is committed to educating his clients and helping them determine the best management strategies for their waterbodies.
When John isn’t spending his time outdoors at work, he can be found having fun with his family and friends. His hobbies include woodworking, fishing, reading, swimming, foosball, cornhole, and sitting quietly in the air conditioning contemplating life’s mysteries with his wife, Leigh.
Joe Cromer is an Aquatic Specialist who serves clients across Southwest Florida. Joe has a particular expertise in shoreline management and environmental enhancement projects. He is an avid environmentalist and firm believer in conservationism. He joined the SOLitude team in April 2019.
Joe earned a bachelor's degree in Environmental Management from the University of West Florida. He has extensive experience constructing bioengineered shorelines and has successfully completed projects in Escambia Bay and Blackwater Bay.
In his spare time, Joe enjoys spending time with family and 6-month old daughter. He also enjoys maintaining freshwater aquariums and distance running. In fact, he has run a 4:29 mile.
Mike Wisdom is an Aquatic Specialist who joined the SOLitude team in 2017. He works closely with property managers and community associations to implement their environmental objectives and ensure their goals are exceeded.
Mike earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Oklahoma Baptist University. Outside of work, he enjoys traveling and spending time outdoors.
Leonard “Lenny” Susa is an Aquatic Specialist who specializes in the management of lakes, ponds and wetlands. He is experienced using proactive tools and industry best practices aimed at balancing aquatic ecosystems and preserving long-term health and beauty.
Lenny joined the SOLitude team in March 2019. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and going to the beach. He’s an avid sports fan and likes boating and motorcycling.
Erik Martinez is an Aquatic Specialist who focuses on providing sustainable solutions for clients with nuisance and invasive vegetation problems. He specializes in the identification of terrestrial and aquatic plant species. Erik joined the SOLitude team in 2016 and works with clients in the Fort Myers, FL region.
In his free time, Erik enjoys spending as much time as possible with his family. He also enjoys baseball and softball and is deeply involved in little league during the season.
Matt Butcher is an Aquatic Specialist who serves clients in Fort Myers, FL, and surrounding regions. He has more than 15 years of experience in wetland management as both a project manager and crew leader. His passion for the protection of our delicate aquatic ecosystems motivates him to maintain strong relationships with his clients through consistent communication and education.
Matt earned his bachelor’s degree in Anthropology from the University of Alabama. He also has a FDACS Commercial Applicator license for natural areas. He joined the SOLitude team in July 2019.
In his free time, Matt enjoys hiking, fishing, football, obstacle course racing, community outreach and spending time with his family, which include one-year-old twin boys.
