Professional Engineer and Client Development Manager
Michael Norton joined SOLitude Lake Management in 2016. He assists in establishing and implementing business development strategies, and serves as an operational liaison between the client, field staff and regional management. He is a licensed applicator and professional engineer and has utilized these skills for more than two decades while serving numerous roles in the lake and pond management industry.
Michael has a varied background in the engineering, aquatics and business management professions. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from North Carolina State University in Raleigh, NC, and his Master of Business Administration degree from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC. His professional work in engineering began in the early 1990’s. By the mid-1990’s Michael was also involved in the management of water resource activities and aquatic vegetation control.
Michael is also a Principal for McGill Associates, one of SOLitude’s Industry Partners, serving as Office Director in their Shallotte, North Carolina location. His involvement in the design, permitting, certification, inspection and maintenance of stormwater control measures allows him to better understand and manage these systems. He offers expertise in land planning, site design, water and wastewater infrastructure permitting, stormwater management and erosion control. His opportunities to work with multiple public and private sector clients also afforded an ability to engage in cooperative efforts with regulatory personnel to improve related guidance documents and ordinances at local and state levels.
Michael and his family enjoy life in their hometown along the coast in Brunswick County North Carolina. Most of his time is spent near home, though his love of water and the outdoors makes any related activity or destination exciting. He values time spent serving in local church ministries as well community and educational boards and committees.
