    Annual Management Program
    Annual Management Program Case Study

    Rehoboth Beach, DE

    Project Timeframe:
    June 2017

    Project Managers:
Wes Allen, Environmental Scientist and Regional Leader

    Key Staff:
    Greg Blackham, Aquatic Specialist

    Site Description:
This property is a private community in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, with a number of small stormwater ponds. These small ponds collect runoff from the community which results in shallow ponds with excessive nutrient pollution. The community participates in an annual maintenance program and expects the ponds to look good during the majority of the year. This can prove to be difficult given how fast weeds and algae can grow in such a shallow, nutrient rich environment.

Green Filamentous Algae Mats After Treatment of Algae Mats

    Scope of Work:
On June 12, 2017, green filamentous algae mats were covering over half of the surface with dense growth throughout the entire water column. A treatment plan was devised using a SePRO product that was applied at the rate of 5 gallons per acre and another product used to speed up results.

    Project Description:
On June 22, 2017, a return visit was scheduled and a follow-up treatment was anticipated. Upon arrival, none of the green filamentous algae could be found in the waterbody and the pond surface was completely clear except for some tree blossoms scattered about. Another inspection of the pond was conducted on July 14, 2017 and the pond was still clear of algae making the treatment a complete success. The residents in the community were happy to see the results and remain pleased with SOLitude and our annual management program.
