This church has four retention ponds totalling to .90-acres on the property. This particular BMP receives runoff from the neighboring community along drainage from the church parking lot.
Scope of Work:
Early in 2017, the filamentous algae growth in the pond became widespread and reached a point where treatment was necessary. At the time of our initial treatment in March 2017, there was approximately 80% coverage with filamentous algae.
During the initial treatment, we applied a environmentally sensitive aquatic product. The liquid algaecide was applied with a backpack sprayer around the entire shoreline. The pond was observed two weeks after the initial treatment, and it was observed that the pond was free of any filamentous algae mats. This treatment was deemed a success, and only minor spot treatments were required throughout the remainder of the season. The community was thrilled that their pond was looking great, and that they could once again fully enjoy it.
