SOLitude Lake Management is pleased to announce the results of the company’s 2017 charitable initiatives and impact in our local communities through SOLitude’s volunteerism and outreach program, The SOLution.
SOLitude and staff contributed $79,393 in donations of goods and in-kind services to non-profits, environmental projects and natural disaster victims last year, an 86% increase over 2016. The contributions, which supported 11,285 families across the country, were supported by 3,512 collective volunteer hours through SOLitude’s Earth Day, Love Your Lake, Little GOBBLERS, and HOLiday Cheer programs, as well as local initiatives including:
• Grass and Tree Plantings
• Foodbank Backpack Programs
• Invasive Species Removals
• Dog and Cat Adoption Events – 308 animals placed in Forever Homes
• Fishing Tournaments and Outdoor Kids’ Events
• Rain Garden and Oyster Reef Castle Installations
• Hurricane Relief Efforts
• Habitat for Humanity Builds
• Waterway Clean Ups – 8,150 lbs of trash removed, 20,132 plastic containers recycled
Four staff members that made significant impacts through these programs, and helped SOLitude exceed its goal of 2,500 volunteer hours, were awarded quarterly and recognized for their mission to serve. Each named Volunteer of the Quarter throughout the year, Aquatic Scientist Greg Blackham (Delaware), Wildlife & Fisheries Biologist Cole Kabella (Texas), Aquatic Technician Ryan Young (Texas) and Becky Snyder (Massachusetts) received additional “SOLution Points,” allowing them and others who volunteered during personal time last year to receive gift card rewards and generous company-matched donations to charities of their choosing.
SOLitude’s top volunteer of 2017 will receive the newly-introduced Heart & SOL Award, which recognizes an individual who goes above and beyond with personal volunteering, inspires others, and displays a true commitment and passion to make the world a better place. The award will be announced in February during SOLitude’s annual “SOL Summit” culture and team-building conference in Orlando, FL.
“SOLitude’s leadership believes in the value of positive change through action and accountability, and rewards staff who make volunteerism a personal commitment,” said Director of Marketing Tracy Fleming. “SOLitude is blessed with passionate and generous team members who truly care about our local communities in which we serve and the surrounding environment.”
The SOLution is a company-wide program that encourages the company and all employees to strive to “create a better world” through volunteerism, community outreach, sustainability and environmental consciousness. Since the program began in 2012, SOLitude has donated more than $254,830 in goods and in-kind services and contributed 9,457 volunteer hours to our local communities across the country.
