Reflecting On Our Year of Volunteering in 2021
2021 was a unique year filled with new changes as well as meaningful opportunities to support others through volunteering and community service initiatives. Our colleagues stepped up in the face of many challenges to support deserving individuals and organizations by donating clothing and necessities, creating greeting cards for hospitalized children, feeding senior citizens, recognizing healthcare professionals, providing essentials to families during the holidays, and much more.
These efforts were backed by The SOLution, SOLitude’s dedicated community service program. During 2021, colleagues and their families were able to generate more than 2,622 personal volunteer hours and raise more than $17,450 for charitable organizations and causes. Below are our annual volunteering events.
Earth Day
On Thursday, April 22, SOLitude’s colleagues were empowered to take time off during regular business hours to support a cause or organization they are passionate about. Across SOLitude’s 35+ nationwide offices, participants volunteered 480 total hours through trash pick-ups at nature preserves, parks, beaches, etc., visiting food pantries and animal sanctuaries, restoring shorelines, writing cards and making bracelets for cancer patients, donating blood, assisting with virtual elementary science fairs, and planting wildflower plugs.
Hometown Heroes
Healthcare professionals, emergency responders, and other essential employees have worked tirelessly over the past two years. To recognize and honor them, the SOLitude team compiled unique care packages containing homemade cards, plants, snacks, restaurant and entertainment gift cards, branded gear, and other treats for deserving organizations in their local areas. In collaboration with SOLitude’s sister companies, which include Rentokil, Ambius, Steritech, and Vector Disease Control International (VDCI), 79 teams were able to serve 90 organizations and impact more than 3,712 individuals throughout the country.
Little GOBBLERs
Leading up to Thanksgiving, SOLitude colleagues worked with 35 elementary, middle, and high schools in the communities that we serve to identify families in need of support due to financial hardship. Our teams delivered more than $8,500 worth of turkeys and grocery store gift cards for school principals and guidance counselors to distribute accordingly. This year, the donations impacted 350 families throughout the country.
HOLiday Cheer
In light of the financial and health-related challenges of the past two years, underprivileged families may experience additional hardships during the holiday season. Through our HOLiday Cheer program, SOLitude strives to support these families in creating a cheerful and fulfilling time of year. As part of the Salvation Army’s nationwide Angel Tree initiative, SOLitude’s teams collected presents, clothing, and necessities valued at $6,150 to provide to 130 children. SOLitude also supported several children’s hospitals throughout the country with gifts and donations valued at $2,800.

The Lasting Impact of The SOLution program
The SOLution is SOLitude’s dedicated community outreach program that promotes and rewards volunteering. Since the inception of the program in 2012, SOLitude’s colleagues, industry partners, and their families have helped generate more than 21,600 volunteer hours and donate $536,305 to charitable organizations and causes.
