"As a society we use and dispose of an incredible amount of “stuff.” Much of that “stuff” is made of plastic, and way too much of it is “single-use,” including plastic bags and bottles. In fact, over 24 billion pounds of plastic packaging is produced in the United States annually, and is specifically designed to be discarded after use. The United States also produces over 100 billion plastic bags, which are commonly used at grocery stores.
